A buddy of mine installed these on his bike and claims a 4 second improvement in lap times, with that I had to get them. Nothing like something there your legs can stick to while leaned over. They are heavier than expected, but they do the job.

I installed a set of those a few weeks back.

So far, I'm really liking them. I can definitely feel that I grip the bike better, and they help insulate the rather warm frame from my legs.

IMO, worth the $60 or so for them - there's a dramatic difference in how well I "stick to the bike."

I'm about to buy these for the next track day on the 24th. Is the cheapest place to get them straight from Tech Spec? Any thought on how fast shipping is?

Thanks Gentlemens.

EDIT: Did you also buy the belt protector? I could see that being a potential problem when sliding across the seat for twisty parts of the track/road...thoughts?

Gripster Question-

If you have to replace these how hard to get them off and or the adhesive ?

What do you think the life span is before they start to look worn out ? Or not an issue?

Any heat issues with the frame and the adhesive?

Thanks for the feedback. Im looking to purchase a set of these for my CR.

Mac inger, Snakeskins

Trekerguy, According to them, they are easily removable. lifespan? they are pretty thick, feel like they will last a very long time. No heat issues.

Drawkward, Prices all around are likely close to the same. It did take a couple weeks for delivery and they are only 15 miles from me. Maybe they had to make them to order with not that many Buells on the market.

American Sportbike sent mine the same day I ordered them. I chose the fusion because they are a little more low key and love them. I only put them on the frame and not the airbox.

Snake skins are really nice

Ordered directly from Tech Spec -- 3 days from clicking the order button to my doorstep from west coast to East coast. Regular shipping.

West i chose the fusion too because i thought they would look a little better then the snake skins. They don't much,..they might be great but i'm still weary about putting them on the bike, so they are sitting on the shelf.

I wish they had a matt rubber finish to them rather then the shiny plasticy look.
Maybe the snakeskins do look better,..i haven't seen them in person.

Mac, go ahead and put them on. With a little use they will dull and match the frame nicely.

To be honest, I won't put them on my Ducati 999R. I've seen pictures of them on the Duc and they just don't compliment the bike. I know its a great functional add on but it has to look good too. If the Duc were black, thats a different story. I went ahead and ordered Stomp grips for the 999R, just because they are clear. But that doesn't mean I'm going to mount them either, I'll have to check it out first. Another reason not to put them on is the fact I don't ride the bike that often and I have no desire to take this one to the track with the carbon fairings and all the mods I have on it. Last time I took a Duc to the track I crashed, fortunately I had used fairings and frame sliders, they saved my bacon.

The Tec Specs look good on the Buell in any color. The Tec Spec cut outs compliment the lines of the Buell tank and frame.

Hey Guys read this. All the info you need.

Motorcyclist magazine test. They remove the gripsters and use them on multiple bikes. I'm ordering mine today.

Did you do anything special to get them to stick to the frame ? They stuck just fine on the tank but the ones on the frame detached overnight....

What was the temp of your frame when you installed them? If the frame was too cold, the glue may not have had the chance to set up. Try attaching them with a heat gun (cautiously). Also, it goes without saying, but make sure everything is clean. A little 409 will go a long way.

Or just idle the bike for 5-10 mins. That gets the frame plenty hot!

++ to clean the frame well and install when hot, per the instructions. I have had no issues so far and thats how I installed mine. They're great when you have passengers too - much better grip to deal with braking loads.

Those of you that bought the Gripsters and bought the "belt guard", where did you buy from? American Sportbike has the Gripsters but the store item states that it does not include the belt guard and I don't see an option to add it.

Normally I think tank protectors look lame (and every time I've purchased a bike that had one installed, I've removed it), but the paint on my 1125R's airbox looks like it scuffs pretty easily so I think the protector will be a worthwhile purchase.
