Was thinking about the Corbin seat. Just curious if anyone had some riding experience with it. Thanks.

Sweet thank you. Does it raise the seat height any?

A seat is in the top 3 next things I'm going to do to the bike for comfort ... I can't decide between Corbin or Baldwin.

Corbin:
+ Great feedback
+ Customizable to order (in terms of covering it ... not sure about seat height/shape)
- Horrible CS reviews

Baldwin:
+ Great feedback
+ Customizable to order
+ Great CS from what I've
+ Buell friendly : )
- More expensive

Just a little bit, I am 5'11" with a 32" inseam and can still reach the ground very very comfortably. If I remember correctly it is just a few centimeters it raises the height if any.

Jeepin, you forgot to mention terrible fit and finish for many of Corbin's seats. American Sport Bike no longer carries Corbin due to inconsistent quality.

The one specifically for the 1125 doesn't use the middle hook the stock seat uses but two metal tabs that hook under the airbox cover. Bottom line it doesn't fit. I took those tabs off and it fits fine, the contours hook well enough that I can't pull it off with reasonable pressure.

The tabs won't go under the cover and one bolt hits the valve cover. I tried it without my scratch cover and it still wouldn't go.

The XB12 seat uses the stock style tab, I'd go with that.

Now that it's on there it rides great, far better than stock and doesn't interfere with movement.

Love my Corbin! Took some fiddling to get it on. the front metal tabs need to be loosened and shimmed with a washer so they will hook under the airbox cover, and the rear had to be loosened and adjusted to line up with the bolt holes on the bike. Poor QC on their part. Price is good. P4020019.JPG

Don't forget their ridiculous prices, terrible attitude, and horrible customer service. In my opinion, there is no excuse for the way Corbin treats customers and retailers- and I've dealt with them in both capacities.

The best thing about Corbin is they create a lot of business for Sargent- a respectable, reasonably-priced, customer-friendly custom seat manufacturer. Just google Corbin + complaints/ reviews/issues/customer service... etc, and have some time set aside to read all of the comments from pissed-off customers. Consider yourself warned.

Sorry, my tongue-in-cheek reply was less than helpful. I haven't used a Corbin on my CR, but I have two for my S2 (one solo, one 2-up) and loveloveLOVE 'em. Hard as a rock..but shaped *just right* so they don't feel hard, if that makes any sense.

I'm pretty much set for a Baldwin seat with vinyl cover and gel inserts. I was going to do leather but I ride in the rain a lot and the price is another $100 or so I think. I just think vinyl will hold up better and the leather isn't going to make a difference under my riding pants ... won't feel it. Plus, you have to condition it ... not that it's a big deal, but just another thing to worry about while Ginger's baking in the midday sun.

My Corbin fits my 1125 perfectly, and is a huge improvement over the stocker.

Ordered mine from Corbin this week. Hope to have it soon. I have over 120000 miles on my two Corbin seats for my HD's and love them. I did get one of the first Corbin seats for my 06 Uly but due to the shape sloping down to the air box every time I hit the brakes I would slide up. The original 06 Uly tall seat is great and on my 09 Uly. It is the only stock seat I have ever liked.

------Corbin owners------

As far as the Corbin's go, what materials do you guys have as for the top/side panels. Just curious what your suggestions were, opinions on what you already have. I'm thinking of ordering one soon.

Leather top & vinyl side panels seem to work the best.

If you order from Corbin directly, you can customize seat height, width, etc.

The best way to order a Corbin is call the Hollister factory direct, that way you can talk to a human if you want to custom order, tough to do on the website. I got a black carbon fiber leather top with asphalt black vinyl sides, blue stitching and they are even doing the corbin logo in blue. The carbon look leather has more grip than the regular leather and the blue stitching would look good for an '08. I had one on my S1 and it was great, my old S1 is on the Corbin site if you look under the S1 gunfighter seat. I ordered the seat 2 weeks ago and was told the asphalt vinyl is out of stock until next week and they would send me an update, so far the CS have been very good. I will post a pic when it shows. No charge for the custom color order which was nice.

An Airhawk seat cushion will solve all the comfort issues at far less cost....

You can have Corbin make the seat to any height you want and they don't charge you extra. I am having one made higher to help with a knee that does not bend as well as it use to. I tried the lower pegs but I was grounding my boots and the pegs down at the track.

For those of you with the Corbin seat: how secure does it fit? With the front tabs going under the airbox cover instead of the central tab, does it wiggle/move around a lot under you?

If there's one thing I can't stand, it's ill-fitting panels or seats ... took me a while to get over the pillion cover move around like it does.

I ordered the corbin seat designed for the XB12R. There are a few threads on badweb that give you a good set of instructions for fit but essentially you just remove the two bumpers up front and it's a great fit for the 1125R. It's secure, it's stable and it's quite comfortable.

If you hang off in the bike in the twisties or on the track, it's a little weird with the raised edges but it's great for less aggressive riding.

After just finishing two 800 mile trips in the last two weeks I decided I had to do something about the saddle. The stock saddle is great for track days and short aggressive rides, but is a killer on long hauls. On one of my trips, I threw on my Airhawk, but something about my body position, the airbox, and other factors leads to some...errr...anatomical pain (to the point of nearly blacking out) after about an hour of riding. So, I have asked around, read here and elsewhere, and in the end decided to order a Baldwin build-up instead of the Corbin. Hopefully it will be here in a week or so & I'll give some feedback.

You can also send your seat to Baldwin and have them put a gel-insert in your stock seat, or you could buy gel-inserts from ebay and try yourself...

Put the seat on tonight. I did have to adjust the rear brackets on the seat. Very easy to adjust. Took the first ride and so far I like it. I will update after I get to do a full day ride.

My girlfriend ordered the XBR seat for her 1125 when Corbin didn't have a specific 1125 seat. They stated 2 weeks to make and that turned into 2 months with a bunch of failed shipping promises within that time period.

The seat pan fit well but the center bracket and rear brackets were positioned about a 1/2" rearward too far. I was able to correct those issues on my own.

The seat is comfy vs the original.

Chris

My Corbin came yesterday, Blue stitching, blue logo, carbon fiber leather, asphalt sides and front.
I had to adjust the brackets and remove one of the 2 front left bolts that hold the front mounting clip (hits the cam cover). Very easy setup and once the adjustments were made it fits great, just loosening mounting screws for fit and tighten. Haven't got to ride it, that's today but just sitting on it is nice, seems about 1/2" lower than the stock seat.
I now need to get the the orange/red spring off and either powder coat blue or black, I am going to remove the 1125R logos as I dont like the red, doesn't match the 08' colors.
