Just got back from the dealer after the new charging harness was installed.
I asked them when I picked it up if the ECM was updated for the new equipment and they said "Sure".
Got it home and hooked up the ECMSPY and it says I still have BUEZD0P0 12-17-08 which I understand equates to M3HUS12Z.
That is what was in there when I took it to them so it does not appear that anything was updated.
It is my understanding that a firmware update is necessary to properly operate the relay in the new harness.
So here is the question: Does the 12Z version work to operate the relay properly? Did I misunderstand something somewhere?

You have an old flash!
Take it back and get the 142 flash. I don't believe you need the newest flash for the harness upgrade, but they should have done that for you anyways!

Harness and flash-

Just had mine done at the dealer, and I believe the last numbers were 152.

I had a much older flash and I don't remember the numbers to be honest. The new flash and harness seems to run much smoother in the 4K and below RPM's.

Charging on the HWY now per the cluster is 13.8 give or take.

I did not have a problem with my stator or charging system. This was the recall.

152 is for the CR.

142 is for the R.

And YES, you need the latest flash in order for the ECM to run the update properly.

They add 2 pins to the ECM. Early flashes have no idea what to do with them.

I had the same problem when i took my bike in for the first service. I told them there was a new flash available. When I picked up the bike i asked them what flash was in it. They told me they didn't know. No one ever asks for it they said so they didn't write it down. When I took my bike in for the charging harness i told them that i wanted to know what the flash was before and after. End result they never flashed the first time, just said they did. When I told them that it was supposed to have been flashed the last time I brought it in so wtf. They just look at me stupidly. I got them to put the clubman bars back on too. When I started the bike to take it home it had cruise control. Then I realize they broke my left mirror. So go back in shop and ask if they check throttle operation after a bar and cable change? They said they took it for a test drive. I guess the harley mechanic thought it felt normal. So they readjust the throttle and i go home. I check the bike out to see what else they screwed up and realize they didn't route the brake and clutch lines behind the flyscreen. The highbars had been routed properly and the mechanic took the lines from behind flyscreen but was too stupid or lazy to put them back where they belonged. Now I'm pissed so i search more. I take the outer airbox cover off and the first thing i see is that the jackass also broke one of the clips off of the inner cover. The shop rate at this harley dealer is $111 a hour and this is the kind of shit work they do. Other than install chrome I don't know what these fing idiots could properly install. What a joke of a dealership. I kinda wanted to buy a wide glyde or fatboy lo to have as a cruiser but now i know I won't buy anything that has to do with HD ever again. They ordered me a new mirror so i brought the bike back to them and they installed it and routed the lines properly but have to take it back to them again for them to put the inner airbox cover on. Hopefully they can get it all right after 3 tries.

Drove all the way back to Dayton today to get the flash corrected.

They had not checked it prior to the harness install. I will resist going on a rant here. Suffice it to say that they corrected it.

Thanks to all who responded.
