Got mine on can't remember when but it was dated March 09, 2010. But do you need a letter to have the recall performed? |

I believe it is for any bike with the 09 and later charging system which includes any 08 that has had an engine replaced or the stator replaced with the updated setup |

Over here in the UK none of the 1125R owners I know have had anything official, it seems to have been up to all us owners over here to get our VIN numbers checked at the dealer to see if we are individually affected, luckily I have a good local dealer who had checked my VIN number and then made contact with me, BWB posts also alerted me to the problem. I am not riding the bike at the moment until the harness is fitted, I have no intention to risk stator failure. |

I am US Military stationed in Germany. I picked up a new CR (US Spec) a couple months ago and haven't received a letter yet. I am waiting for it so I can get the work performed when I take it in for the 1st service. |

I mentioned it to my (UK) dealer and they hadn't heard of it, but then again they also tried to tell me the first service was 1000 miles (1600KM) and seemed really upset when I pointed out (politely) that it was 620 miles (1000km). I mentioned the EML and LFL issues too and didn't seem to know what the implications were.. Guess I'll have a longer conversation when I drop it in for the 620 mile service and ask them again to do the harness and replace the IC |

You don't need the letter for the dealer to perform the work. They will run your VIN and see if you are eligible or not. |

I have the letter, but can't get the dealer to call me back when the parts come in. |

Yeah... not a recall, a warranty item... |

No technically it's not a recall or a warranty item, it's a free "no cost upgrade". Wow and to think a company that has gone out of business is offering free upgrades, oh please, if it looks like a recall and smells like a recall, well then there you have it, a free no cost upgrade! |

It is a no cost upgrade because it only costs $39 retail for the part to protect a $300+ stator that WILL fail under warranty. ac |

My stator hasn't failed, 7000 miles, 6800 of them under 5k RPM, never had an issue, I still haven't had this done. |

Wow, you own an 1125 to ride under 5k rpm? That is amazing. ac |

Doesn't everyone? Otherwise how can you see out of your rear view mirror with all the vibration? Now if I just had like 3 more gears I could get up on the freeway, stay under 5k, and still see what's behind me. |

Yes, why would I ride over 5000rpm? It wastes gas, ruins tires, creates a ton of noise, and it is an illegal speed on the highways in 4th through 6th gear. Like I said, I've probably only done about 200 miles of its life above that, so my stator has been in the the overheat danger zone for the vast majority of my ownership. |

Doesn't even compare. Either way. The bike SHOULD charge just fine at ANY rpm. ac |

Froggy - no disrespect if you want to ride your bike using only half the rev range but at those roads speeds an XB would use far less gas, I used to own a well sorted XB12R and at normal road speeds the fuel economy was far better than my 09 1125R, but I didn't but the 1125R to ride "slowly" all the time |

John - Cheltenham HD They've got rid of all of their stock of Buells and even managed to persuade the sales manager to sell his and buy a sportster so nobody there rides Buells any more. Apparently the service manager "knows" Buells (he was off on the day I went in) but that doesn't fill me with confidence.. |

-Got my letter MONDAY the 5th of April. Called and they said it would be 8-10 working days to order the part and they will call me to have the bike taken in. It took two days to get a hold of anyone, they kept saying they would call me back, we will see how this goes. |

What does this harness and relay do? Does it let the ecm turn on and off the charging system? |

What symptoms would I see if my harness were fubar? I detect no problems with my bike now, and I'd rather not fix something that's not busted. What do you guys and gals think? |
