i have an 09 1125cr, as some of you know my bro wrecked it on palomar, so i am talking it apart and ordering parts to fix it up. when I was taking it apart, i noticed what appeared to be clutch fluid, leaking from the "puck" on the right side of the engine. It was a very small amount,i wiped it off and haven't seen anymore. My question is, should i be worried about this? the bike did roll a few times when it was wrecked, but the clutch side of the engine did not get scratched at all. But I have read threads about people with brand new bikes that are having clutch issues? What does your dealer do, is there a new or upgraded part the put in it, what is the problem with the clutch?

I am putting on the highbars, so i am going to have to take off the clutch line already, should i go talk to my dealer?
I'm afraid if they see the bike in its current state they won't do warranty work on it.

I've put the upgrade hydraulic piston & cylinder kit (X2086.1AM) myself, Was very easy to do. But looking over the parts, I don't see any difference in the cylinder except that it's got a teflon coating. The new piston does not have a teflon coating, whereas as the old part does. Also, the new piston now uses two redesigned seal rings. From looking at the parts, it looks like you only need to replace the cylinder (part # X0087.2AM & 2 O-rings CF0007.1AMA), and the redesigned piston linings. It looks like the old teflon coated piston is identical to the new piston (which does not have the teflon coating). Part numbers for the redesigned piston linings are CR0001.3AM & CR0002.3AM. The total for the cylinder and all the seals & linings should run you around $100. PM me if you want details on how to install these parts.

I subsequently found out that the kit cost more than if you were to buy the individual parts.

I was searching through the site, and someone said the kit that i need to get is p/n X2086.1AM, i checked it on latus hd and it retails for $230. The p/n you listed is lower then X2086.1AM, so does that mean X2086.1AM is a newer kit?

No they are the same. What I'm saying is don't buy the kit - instead by the components individually.

X2086.1AM contains the following parts (retail price):

- Piston (X1086.3AM - $80.45) with linings (CR0001.3AM & CR0002.3AM) (the lining parts alone retail $18.70 & $21.80)
- Cylinder/Sleeve (X0087.3AM - $87.70) with 2 O-rings (CF0007.1AMA - $1.69 each)

Total price for individual components: $171.53 cents retail price vs $232 retail price for the kit.

but can't I just take it to the dealer, it is under warranty. I just want to make sure they get the right parts, as i have seen that some people had to take their bike in multiple times for the problem to be resolved.

So X2086.1AM and X2085.1AM are the same? why do they have two part #'s?

Sorry I made a typo, which I fixed. X2086.1AM is the correct part number.

I thought you were going to do it yourself.

Sorry, i was trying to say that i want to find out what the fix entails, i want my dealer to do it right the first time, i don't want to have take it in a bunch of times, and i want to be able to give them a part number, that way i know they are actually fixing it.

Thanks for your help, i'm not comfortable enough to tear into the clutch yet, but I'm learning.

The kit is a new lining and piston, with seals.
The original and first few revs were aluminum linings I think.
The final kit X2086.1AM is an SS lining and piston.

So far so good, got mine done last October and still no leak.

The leak started at around 600 miles, fixed at 22,666... 24,400 now.
I had to top off the reservoir twice.

<edit> The kit fits either RevA or RevB covers(Small or Large puck)

I also had mine fixed last October, and they are ordering me parts again because it's leaking again.
The fix didn't even last 1,000 miles. Maybe 600.
Maybe it'll stay all sealed up this time. Fingers crossed!

I had mine fixed with the X2086.1AM kit. I dropped it off last Thursday, got a call Friday morning that it was done, so I picked it up Saturday and dropped off my other one for the stator harness. I did about 300 so far, no issues with leaking, and the clutch feels great : )

The lining was a bit heavier so I think it could be SS. I didn't test them out or anything, but the piston appears to be aluminum - it was way too light to be SS. It's really easy to install. Took me about 30min total, not including bleeding.

Also, I'm not sure whether you guys notice the difference in the clutch leverage pull. It appears to be easier to pull with the X2086.1AM kit.

You're right DC - the piston is still Al but the lining is SS.
I haven't seen Loretta for over a week, she's in the shop for the last warranty work, a new fuel pump.

My warranty expired April 1.
