The dealer took my noid resistor plug out and put it in a baggy under my rear seat - i was doing an oil change today and getting my tools out and noticed it in there

if you still have the solenoid still hooked up on the bike, they may have reconnected it. unplug the solenoid(if it is there) and reinstall your resistor.

My dealer didn't do or say anything about my denoid ...the resister was still plugged in after the harness install ... weird for you dealer to do that .

I just left the solenoid in place and plugged in - but took out the cable to the TB. It'll be interesting to see if my dealer notices when they install the charging harness...

Dmhines. the wiring harness install involves the wiring for the solenoid to supply power for the control circuit of the replay. you will find that your resistor is not in the same plug that you installed it in. they removed the resistor, installed the overlay harness and reinstalled your resistor in the plug that would have been for the solenoid.

Swamp2, they will never know about your cable removal unless they have some reason to take the air box off.

Gemini,
Do you have instructions for the harness install?

They removed mine, handed it back to me, and noted on the worksheet that it had to be removed for repair installation. Am I going to have a problem finding out where to re-attach it?

Part of the harness update is verifying operation of the solenoid. Tech could have plugged it back in for you but either forgot or chose to leave it out. Just be happy it wasnt lost

So what do they do if you removed the noid? I had the upgrade done but I removed the noid and used the resistor.

I will have to verify my resistor is in pLace and the harness was changed.

you will find a plug that is identical to the one that you originaly installed your resistor to or removed your solenoid from completely. the function on the wiring ugrade is not dependent on the function of the solenoid. the tech is advised to verify operation and function of the solenoid only because it is wise to return a bike in proper working fashion so the customer does not have a "come-back".

as for not reinstalling a resistor, i can't speak for all techs, but some may see that as an emission compramising device(which it is), and feel they may have some legal obligation(and depending on their laws, they might) to return the vehicle to "factory" condition and alow the customer to reistall the resistor. my "hands are tied" approach.

just my 2 cents

My dealer didn't mind the resistor plug at my 620. I told them it was there so they'd know why I had the code that activates if you hit the right conditions but the solenoid doesn't engage. That said, I removed it and plugged the H/W back in for the charging harness upgrade. Once they brought the bike back to my house, I popped it back in myself.

I would just like to see the instructions published so I can see what they are going to do to my bike. I would also like to be able to append them to my service manual so I have the update for future diagnostics.

I may specifically ask the service writer for them with just that logic. I paid $60 for an Electrical Diagnostics Manual, I think they should give me the updates to it.
