Anyone here tried to insulate the fuel from the boil without dropping the motor. Also thought of wrapping my pipes since I now have the Jardine RT-5 slip on to keep the heat down a bit.

Trafford: Did you drop the motor to do it? And what did you use?

Not the pipes.....the frame. I did it with material 2000 degrees proof self adhesive from Ebay UK. Did not drop the motor, just removed the airbox completely and the rubber injector gasket for the airbox. Then cut to size and started to peel off the backing slipped the sheets ito the tight gaps then used a long plastic kitchen knife to press the sheet hard into place while pulling on the backing paper. Left side was easy in one piece. The right side was done in several pieces but no one will inspect it. Sorry I did not take pictures......but it was quite easy and quick. Someone else did the same so I just used their description and it worked.

08 1125Rs don't have any frame insulation - wasn't fitted until the 09 MY.

I believe the key here is what is the mixture of ethanol in the gas. The higher the mix, the lower the boiling temp.

Best recommendation is the call buell customer service, you might be able to have them install something under warranty.

Thanks everyone, I would like HD to do it but its been a week and I can't even get a call back from TSI HD in here in CT. There too busy with "real motorcycles" to give a D about some sport bike, even though they were willing and able to sell them. 2-emails to service and one to the mgr and no response.
I am so pissed that I am headed down there right now. HAY REMEMBER ME

I was in for my rather-overdue 6200 mile service today, and brought up my concerns about excessive fuel vapors (my garage is attached to my house, and after a hot day, my whole first floor smells of gas).

The frame insulation is on order under warranty, and if that doesn't fix it, they'll install the charcoal canister.

Because installing the insulation involves rotating the motor down, I'm planning to pay a bit extra and have header wrap installed while they're doing it.

Syonyk - great plan with good timing.

Has anyone done ceramic coating on their headers?

I actually drove over to TSI Harley in Ellington CT after e-mailing service several times with no response. Talked to Service and got an appointment in May for a couple items still on recall. When I mentioned boiling gas, insulation and the cali can, he just looked at me kind of weird and said no recall for that, so i guess its up to me. I did buy oil and a filter for 65.00, yikes! They did try to sell me 4 quarts, then looked it up and said it would take 2.4 quarts?? Good thing I am doing the oil change.
Anyone know were I can buy a gas insulation kit and black heat tape?

Be careful Blackbear......the oil capacity is not the same on every engine. Mine and many others have found it takes more to fill to the correct level Oil fill with Filter 3.2 litres =3.38 US Quarts(with new oil filter) quite a bit more than 2.4 Quarts.
