To those sporting 1% tats and patches that aren't patched members of a "club"

1% tatts are OK - as long as you understand the meaning and can answer politely (or not - dependant on who is asking) if asked.

Patches are OK too as long as they're not an unsanctioned 3 piece set in which case they'd have some explaining to do..

"turf wars" (if you want to call them that) are widely advertised so you'd know well in advance where you should fly your colours or not.

Some people log on to Wikipedia and take it for gospel and it's sad. Any of you get bored check out the website www.agingrebel.com it may clear some things up for you.

Petereid-
There is in fact no turf war going on in your area. Just the media and LEO trying to scare the public and get more funding. I have been following the news reports up there.

Rigid_frame-
Though I agree with some of the things Jules has said, I cannot agree with his color choice. My favorite color is Black and White.

I hope everyone has a great day, and those of you with prejudice check out the site I posted a link to.

Couldn't agree more, Fresno.

Men who need to be a part of a motorcycle gang like the major 1%ers aren't men at all. Plain and simple.

Ok look I don't ride in a club but I do like to ride with other people. Are there people in clubs right now that are complete Douche bags of course there are but no more that in any other organization. Iv seen a guy get pulled over for ape hangers in the middle of a police charity ride ( hows that for douche baggetry). Just because you ride in or with a club, group, gang doesn't make you a bad guy, menace, drug dealer, runner, thug, or what ever you care to say. What about all the so called "outlaw" clubs that participate in charity rides? We as a group really don't have the right to judge the way someones likes to live ones live unless we are willing to to join that person to see for yourself. I have known a lot of club guys and they are some of the nicest guys Iv met and they really didn't care what you rode but giving the brand would give you a ration of shit. As for clubs that require a certain type of bike thats there choice. So to wrap this up I would like to comment on how childish the thread has become. Iv been a member for a while now and this is the first time I have seen anybody be an ass to each other. For what?

All I was basically saying is that if you need a group of guys to make you feel like you're wanted, you're not a man. You're weak both in mind and will. I've never understood the mob/group/gang mentality. A bunch of guys go out riding/drinking/ having fun...why does one need to put a name on that unless it's strictly for charitable reasons...and don't bullshit me...these motorcycle groups/gangs were NEVER created for charitable reasons.

Again...just my opinion. I'm sure you guys are all cool and would be worth having a beer with for sure...but you'll never see me with a group/gang's patch on my back. Never. (unless it's a racing/track thing)

Drawkward and Fresnobuell-
Like I said before, I posted this thread to see if there where others like me out there. Not for people to get on here and bash clubs. So thank you for the thread jack, I hope you both feel important now that you put in your $.02

Drawkward-
did someone form a club beat up up once before? Or steal your GF? You seem like you have some unresolved issues.

It's funny how from your statements you clearly know nothing about 1%er clubs, yet post your comments like facts. I agree that everyone is allowed their own opinion and am not naive enough to think everyone should agree with me. But commenting on a thread you have no knowledge on, all to pat yourself on the back for not being in a club is just lame. And honestly your posts are screaming of over compensation. Don't worry...I don't think any club would want you as a member anyways.

Back to the topic of this thread....
Looks like I am not the only one who rides an amazing bike and is a member of a traditional MC. Thanks for the input guys.

I grew up around quite a bit around 1%ers. 2 of my uncles ride with the Angels in the Bay Area, and my parents ride Harleys so ive met plenty of people from the Gooses and a few others. It all depends on the member if you ask me, some of them are in it for the riding and occasional bar hop (which im not real keen on, but its not my business). There are some that make a lifestyle out of slingin drugs (one of my uncles did). One thing I will say about people in 1%er clubs is that theyre loyal as hell.....My uncles friends probably wouldnt let anyone screw with me just because of who im related too, thats just how they are.

Im not big on organized groups and stuff, I like to ride with friends and go act like a hooligan on the streets riding wheelies and stuff, but im not into the bar hopping or anything like that.....I have been a bit harassed by the police for being pretty heavily tattooed though.

Interesting topic.

I'll hijack it a little.

Clubs in Australia are being targeted under new anti-association laws. The laws are being passed under the guise of 'getting the bikies, they're bad...' yet there is zero reference to bikers in any of the legislation.
Basically the Government is giving itself the power to make any organisation illegal at it's whim, without any recourse through the courts. A similar model was used in Nazi Germany...
As the clubs have traditionally kept to themselves, it has been easy to make them the boogeymen to get these laws passed.

In short, don't believe everything the Police and Government spin you.

Interestingly, it has had the opposite effect, bringing the clubs together to fight the laws legally. Blokes that would normally be swinging at each other, are now standing side by side to fight the political hysteria.
We now have United Motorcycle Councils in at least four states of Australia. Interesting times indeed.

Australia is a joke. They already went gun free and now theyre pulling stuff like this? Good luck to their people. In all honesty though, their situation is pretty similar to ours....theres is much more extreme, but the US and Australia are both dealing with a government thats getting way too big for their shorts.

Mooch, glad you decided to personally attack me. That says a lot about your character.

Assuming that I know nothing about motorcycle groups or gangs just because I have a differing opinion than you is childish.

I have no unresolved issues with any club or gang of motorcycle riders. I just think they are sheep. The same sheep they "band together" to try to avoid. It's simple really. Why you can't understand that is beyond me. And saying that you don't think any club would want me as a member is really naive and childish also. I must have hurt your feelers at some point in this thread. Sorry you couldn't man up and take it. Didn't mean to get you down buddy.

Drawkward-
Thank you for the laugh. First of all I did not personally attack you. sorry if this makes you feel less important, but I actually posted to you, another member and than the board. what I did direct at you was in response to your post. Nothing too confusing about that.

Second, I am not assuming you know nothing about clubs, you make it obvious that you know nothing about clubs. Main point, calling us "gangs", other point "I just think they are sheep. The same sheep they "band together" to try to avoid." Those statements prove you don't know anything more than what you have read online in a google search. If anyone is assuming things it is you with statements like those.

I do not know what is so hard for you to understand. let me put it in a way your simple mind can comprehend:
several people post on here because of their love for a certain type of motorcycle. that common thread has brought all of us together to this website. Right? are you following along here? This website, a collection of people with a common interest even has a name right (bad weather bikers)? To stretch it a bit, there has even been some posts where members of this board have requested Bad Web shirts, or stickers to show others of their allegiance, feel free to use the search function and check it out. Now tell me are these people mindless sheep? or gang members? Remember, your one of them. Check out the Strom Front section while you are here. Some of those clubs decided to make and wear patches too.

My point it motorcycle clubs are not gangs. They are not sheep, not wolves that need to travel in a pack. Like minded people are brought together centered around a common interest. From riding together bonds and brotherhoods are formed. It is that simple. Do not get me wrong, I will agree with you that there are people out there that join clubs for the wrong reasons (protection, to be a bully, etc) but over all that is not the case. And to make the assumption that all club members are "sheep" and are "banding together to avoid" something is just plain idiotic.

You call me childish, but answer something for me.... I posted a thread asking anyone if they rode an 1125r in a motorcycle club. A fair question for a motorcycle forum, instead of bringing any substance or real content to this thread you posted "Men who need to be a part of a motorcycle gang like the major 1%ers aren't men at all. Plain and simple." Now tell me, wasn't that pretty childish of you? To post your personal, uneducated, biased opinion about how you feel about people that are in motorcycle clubs? Maybe you shouldn't call people names until you take a look at your actions. I am not even sure what you were trying to accomplish with your post. Like I said, it did not bring any substance to the thread. so where you just trying to get a pat on the back? to get others to agree with you? either way it was immature and childish of you.

I stand by my statements, you have assumed an awful lot. And though I said it in a more sarcastic manor last time, I think from your posts you make it obvious you have some sort of hidden hatred for club members. Obviously something has happened to you in the past.

If you are really the stand up man you claim to be, find a local club in your area (looks like Texas so find a member of the Red and Gold)tell him you think he is a mindless sheep and needs to be in a group to be tough. I am willing to wager he will either kick your ass on his own, or if your lucky will sit down with you and explain what being in a club is really like to you.

Now that I gave you the attention that you came here seeking I hope that you feel better. Have a good day, and remember, we may not agree on clubs, but we both have great taste in bikes.

"turf wars" (if you want to call them that) are widely advertised so you'd know well in advance where you should fly your colours or not.

These are the kinds of statements that perplex me- "answering politely", "unsanctioned", "explaining to do", "turf wars", and "should fly your colours or not". Each of these implies that there is some sort of behavior that needs to be "enforced" by some individual or group. Who decides what is ok, what is not ok, who and what must be "enforced", and from where do the "enforcers" derive their authority.

Why are there things that must not be discussed, things most people wouldn't understand, and why is there a palpable aggressive/threatening tone found in replies to questions about, and descriptions of possible reactions of "1%" club members. If these "clubs" are nothing more than collections of individuals who share a common interest, passion, and love for particular motorcycles, riding, and brotherhood, then what's with the secrecy, contemptible attitude, acrimonious insinuations, and distasteful braggadocio? I will be the first to admit I don't get it, and will wait patiently until someone can. "You wouldn't understand" is not an acceptable explanation- I share all of the above "club member" traits except the antisocial component, and I certainly hope that is not the dividing line between a 99%er and a 1%er. If so- that's pretty sophomoric and lame.

Wow. Lots of poo-flinging going on here. I ride because I love motorcycles, pure and simple. I've never particularly been the type to want to ride in a group. That's just not me. I am most comfortable riding with family -- my brother, father, uncle, etc., or on a track. Many club members see each other as family, so I can relate in that regard. Trackdays balance pushing-the-envelope-riding against the exponentially more controlled environment, so I can feel oddly comfortable scraping a peg with my front wheel close enough to that guy I met today on that Tuono that I can hear the particles he's shedding off his knee pucks hitting my faceshield. People ride for their own reasons. If you love to ride, regardless of the reason, we share something.

A certain well-known man that I'm a fan of once said "judge not"...
