Anyone here doing any spring cleaning with Seafoam? If you have already please let me know what mixture you used and the effects?

I don't think that seafoam would hurt anything but I may be wrong. I planned on mixing some in the tank and letting it run through. Of course the adding it directly to the intake would be the best method has anyone done this?

I did this on my Ducati, I think it smoked for about twenty minutes. I poured about an 1/8 can in each throttle body and then about falf the bottle in the tank and let it run for about thirty minutes. It does a good job of cleaning deposits, but I wouldnt do it very often, maybe every 7K or so?

I've almost got 9k on the bike now and was just curious if anyone had done it through the intake yet or just through mixing it with gas.

I use it every spring on my Grand National to keep the carbon build up at bay. It does get smokey!

I use Lucas injector cleaner for three or four tank fulls at every oil change.
Have on all past bikes for many years.

Use it in my cars also, though they are all carbureted.

Does the Ducati have a cat?

I have seen people do that in their car and they smoke like a son of a bitch but my car has no cats and she didn't smoke at all...

The official Sea Foam FAQ has good usage information.
http://www.seafoamsales.com/how-to-use-our-product s.html

There are three ways to use it: in the fuel, in the crankcase, and in the intake manifold. However, I think intake induction might be more useful if you have a direct injection engine. Sea Foam in the gas tank should find its way to clean the back of the 1125R intake valves just fine. Sea Foam helped my carbureted FZR600 last month. It was running a little rough when I first fired it up for the first time this year, but after 1 tank with Sea Foam it is back to normal.

Here is my page on trying to homebrew Sea Foam from cheap readily-available components:
http://hildstrom.com/projects/seafoam/

I found the real stuff at Northern Tool for $6.50/pint this past weekend.

Yeah i have no doubts as to it's uses or magical powers. I was more curious to see if anyone had already tried the direct injection method with any results and how they went about it.

I don't think it can hurt the bikes any so long as you don't vapor lock it by adding too much.

My plan right now is to get to it sometime this next weekend.

I am planning on removing the airbox, setting up my large fan near the front of the bike to help it stay cool and since I don't know where to tap into the intake via vaccum hose I think I will put the Seafoam in a spray bottle to cut down on the adding too much at once chance.

Whatcha think?

I'd just add it to the tank of fuel myself.

Just take off the air box stuff and pour that sh*it down the throttle bodies lol

I'm not sure where the IAC gets its air from but you could use the vacuum from that... or the clutch maybe?

I'll get some in the next couple of days then and show how its done since other people r scrrrrrd

Even though there shouldn't be any carbon anyway cuz there are two throttle positions on my bike, 0 and 100. I doubt there is time for carbon to build up. Lol

Well its harder to hydro lock a motor than you think and I've done it with testing EFI when the injector driver gets stuck wide open...

I won't be doing that.

}a spritz from a hung injector is different than a pencil sized stream falling in that hole..

If you over load a cylinder it will be entertaining for the rest of us.

I must be missing something.

Every Fall I put a fresh tank of gas in my bike with stabil. It sits for 4-5 months.

In the Spring I start it up and ride it.

Less is more.....
