So my clutch cover is leaking for sure but thats not the same oil using in the clutch line is it? anyway My clutch went out completely today and I come home to find that the resevoir is empty. Also I have DOT 3 fluid available but it says DOT 4. Is there that much of a difference that I should just go back into town to get DOT 4?

Scott,

The clutch is a wet clutch that uses the engine oil for lubrication.

The clutch cable is totally separate. You need to use DOT 4 is the manual calls for it.

The question is, why is your clutch fluid reservoir dry?

There is a bulletin (or perhaps recall) on leaky clutch covers. You should ask your dealer about it.

If you got a leaky clutch, your master cylinder will eventually empty and let air into the line.

What if it looks like the bike was dropped on that side, the puck has slight abrasions on it. I dont actually know what happened to it, it was there when i bought it.

Same. Show up. Pop off the puck, mention the updates on the parts and they should do it no problem.

Ditto. It's a known issue and there is a new revision clutch cover and puck and o ring etc.
