Ohlins contacted me recently. They had built up a number of very trick TTX36 rear shocks (top line stuff, same ones used on Danny Eslicks Daytona Sportbike 1125R), only to be caught with the shut down of Buell. They gave me a good price if I'd take them all, which I did. But I'm now sitting on more $$ in shock inventory than I'd rather have. So here is a very special deal: These are normally $1300 shocks, fully adjustable, slow and fast comp and rebound damping adjustments, ride height, etc. We'll sell what we have until I get down to just a few, for $750. We have them in stock with several spring rates, but can get them converted if we run out of one rate. See http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-prodshow/16360.html

Act soon if interested, a few are already pre-sold to some 1125 racers, the others won't last at this price. Serious performance, and not bad bling either. These things are real eye candy, my picture doesn't do it justice.

Jdugger, why are you looking at a Penske? I was doing my research on the TTX36 this morning and saw your post of last fall about using the Showa shock from Buell. You seemed happy with it then.

Does this mean you would recommend the TTX36 over the Showa race unit?

Early today I was on the American Sport Bike site checking on something else and saw the TTX36. Started doing my research immediately. Of course I know about the Ohlins rep, but I wanted to learn enough to make a decision on buying the TTX36. After reading what a few others had said about the Buell Showa race shocks, I decided to do the prudent thing and go with the still more reasonably priced Showa. But seeing the comments here knocked me over.

So, I just ordered my shock over the phone. I was just going to check on availability, but couldn't resist. Now I'm looking forward to seeing that shock on my racer!! But, even though I just saved at least $500, I'm going to be on PBJ sandwiches for a few weeks.

The Buell race shock is a great value, but it's a double clicker, not a tripple clicker.

And, I've upgraded the suspension on my track bike to AK-Gas + Penske Tripple, and moved the Buell race stuff to my second 1125r.

I'm really eyeing this Ohlins unit, though. For 750 vs 650 for Buell, it's a great deal.

Jim, thanks for the reply. I got two pearls out of it. I've already got 1.1 Traxxion springs, so I'll stay on that path and get the rest of the AK-20 upgrade. They told me I could piece it out like that. About a year ago I got a chance to ride a ZX10 racer with AK-20 front end and Ohlin TTX36 rear. It was impressive. I'll stick with this plan. Thanks a lot.

What's the thoughts on running this and leaving the front stock for now.

I can't afford to do it all at once.

Be forewarned. Preload adjustment on this shock is NOT as user friendly as the stocker. The subframe seat mount interferes with the lower half of the preload adjustment. Also there is ia white nylon set screw in the "A" hole of the preload adjuster that will be impossible to use if the "A" hole happens to land on the underside.

Anyone that has a fix to these problems, please post up! Does anyone know if the preload adjuster will move if the nylon set screw is removed? I would love to hear the solution(s).

I'm planning to use the smaller subframe from EBR. I also ordered a seat pan this morning from Grandstand Designs to replace the stock seat and make removing the tail piece easier. I'm not sure how this will affect access to the shock, but I will report back on what I find.

I'm planning to use the smaller subframe from EBR

The smaller subframe doesn't give any relief as it still has the mount for the seat.

No thoughts on running this along with stock internals on the front?
Anyone?

Is your concern f/r balance? Can you what you think might happen?

On my race bike I have a 1.1 fork spring in place of the lighter spring. I don't see where putting on the TTX36 will hurt my ride. I'm sure that as soon as I can afford the rest of the AK-20 front end things will improve, but I don't see where putting on a good shock will hurt.

Man does that look sweet!

I already have the Showa race shock on the R, other wise that Ohlins would tempting.

Does anyone have any experience with this shock on their street 1125? I have an Ohlins shock on my TL1000S and it absolutely transformed the handling and stability so I'm curious about this TTX on a street bike.

Well, I bit.

Figure it's a good start, and maybe later on when the finances rebound a bit (ok, a lot) I'll jump on the 25mm kit from EBR for the front.

Was it something that I really needed?
No, probably not, but it just looks way to nice not to have. ; )

FYI, these things are FLYING off the shelf, my phone has been ringing pretty steadily on this. If you are interested in them, don't wait, because I may not have any in a week. I've already sold out of the 10.5 and 11's that I had here, but I only had them ship half of them to me prior to knowing which rates would move. More on on the way in those rates, and I can get ones that I have converted if necessary. The springs aren't Buell specific.

Also, there was an Ohlins web ad that listed this shock AND the fork internals for $799. That was an error on their part, was never supposed to list both, and has been removed from the web. We got ALL of the shocks that they had. So don't waste your time trying to get that special and miss out on these.

Al -

Did I get one of the 10.5's that you had?
Or will there be a little delay on my order?

Thanks,
Craig

Hey -

To the other track/suspension guys also.

I'm about 155 - 160 with no gear, would i be better with the 10.5 that says 170-200 and risk being sprung a touch heavy or a 10 that is 145-170 and risk being sprung a touch light?

You got one of them..I'm processing it right now. I'd pre-scanned ahead prior to processing so that I wouldn't commit in the wrong order...

I always prefer more spring rate with less preload than the opposite, but there are people who will argue the other side. To me it lets you do more with compression damping when you're not relying on it to keep the bike from bottoming out.
