Is it just me or is the rear brake on the R weak? Just curious if something is wrong with mine or if I can adjust it somehow. | ||

that is the moisture on your brakes from the exhaust. its normal. i just ride the rear for about a block and that takes care of it, or get tip ends to re route it. or does it squeak all the time | ||

Same here. Once I got the stock exhaust off that solved my moisture/squeeling problem right off the bat. I can lock the rear wheel at will, not sure if your pads bedded properly? BTW I polished the outer edge and the inner part of the rear disc today ... man it looks so much better than with all the exhaust crap all over it. | ||

He asked if it was weak, not squeak  If you look in your owners manual it does state the brakes need to be broken in. They work absolutely fine once thats done. And like stated about the squeaking, the above posts are correct. | ||

The rear brake on this bike is most certainly powerful enough to send your rear end into a slide if you stomp on it hard enough to lock it. If you are not getting that performance, check the res for fluid level...bleed it and top it off again and then do the break in procedure again for at least 50 miles of riding. I found this out by taking several MSF courses on post *required* and got a little greedy on my breaking exercises. Learning to bring the brakes online together for emergency stops is a trial and error drill. Once you learn how the bike feels on the edge of braking traction you are at optimal braking performance... in regards to the rear brake. I only use the rear brake in emergencies... slow speed maneuvers and while holding the bike at a light or stop on a steep incline. | ||

got the braking wave disc and pads for the rear. works MUCH better.. | ||

Yea, I felt like the rear brake was weak on the 08R, 09R, and CR I demo'd, and is weak on the R I bought. I can only compare to 20 yrs of liter spor bikes, but I'm hoping the break in helps with this. i use the rear brake as a control on wheelies & would like more feel/grip. But I'm still getting used to the front brake which feels different to me than your avg sport bike, but the biggest thing I need to adpat to is the slipper clutch, never had one before and it's really different. |
