Just wondering if anyone is/has used their 1125r on dirt roads. Not crazy dual sport stuff but touring in areas where you might go from tarmac to dirt/peastone roadways. Where i ride on the weekends many of the tarmac roads are now repaired with peastone and tar or left as dirt/gravel. I tend to avoid these areas but im wondering if my fear of gravel roads is unfounded. | ||

The stock tires absolutely suck off road, after that its just a matter of the suspension being too harsh. I have done it, its not as easy as my Uly with motard tires and the dirt suspension, but it is still doable. | ||

My fourth day or so of riding the 1125 (my first bike) I ended up on a wet, muddy gravel road. I basically had to drive in the very slick muddy tracks, or plow through the very think gravel in the middle. I slowed down to about 15 mph and it was not to bad as long as I didn't give it too much gas all at once. I gradually got my speed up to about 30mph after gaining some confidence. It was certainly more nerve-racking than a nice asphalt road, but it is definitely doable. Just be careful with acceleration, braking, and turning and pay much more attention to the road directly in front of you. | ||

Seriously creepy w/ street tires. If you do it a lot, change your tires, and soften up the compression and rebound a bit. Never going to be ideal, but it could be make to work. R |
