I was out on my '08 1125r yesterday for the first real ride after I put on the HMF...was loud while warming up...I rode by the local LEO's with no problem...so far. No ECM work needed although i'm running a K&N...

I just put my fmf on and rode twice now. Past quite a few LEO's and no issues. Tho did get a few looks. It is loud but not as loud as some harleys.... bad thing is it seams louder when I'm going 25 or 35 mph in 2nd and 3rd then when I'm up there in the revs gettin on it

Yeah thats the thing with the 1125's they are almost louder at idle and low speed then at high speed. Something about that helicopter idle that it has. Its just the nature of the beast.

I have had a jardine, and now a Barker, and both were stupid loud at idle. I have the middle sized insert on the barker now and its perfect. Still loud enough to know its not stock, but not loud enough to draw too much attention.

"too loud??? too bad!!!" i want one!

Have FMF currently with insert. Ran the pipe with stock ECM and it was way loud. Put the Race ECM from EBR, and what a difference, quieted right down. Sounds like the classic V-twin that we all know with a higher idle. It's not any louder than my buddy's XB12R with D&D pipe, and race ecm.

Are you guys talking about the actual or percieved volume of the bike/pipe while riding? Because what is what most likely is happening is the faster you go, the farther you (as rider) are from the highest decibel moment. I noticed this effect everyone is reporting as well of course. Loud as hell at idle and low rpm pooting around town, then smoother quieter "flowing" sound as speed and rpm increase. So my question was, "is it me? Or is the bike truly getting quieter as it finds a "happy" place?" I swapped bikes with a friend's faired, stockpiped Jap literbike, following him about 2 bike lengths behind, give or take. So he was on my CR with the FMF pipe and insert flopped to 'quiet.' We rode at 35-45, then got on the freeway and rolled along in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th gears at like 70-75 just to see the diffs. It didn't seem to get quieter the faster we went. And in 3rd gear it wailed pretty loud. Subjectively I liked it, especially the short-shifting sound of the motor at what was prob like 2500 around town -- nice bass rumble -- but if you think your bike is truly getting quieter as speed and revs increase, you're dreaming.
Of course, I could be dreaming too.
