Well, having several months, and 600 miles (finally) on the CR with the high bars, I have made a few mods...

I wired a second Garmin Zumo into the accy circuit located in the headlight area. The XM radio receiver is wired into the rear tailbag compartment, and I locate it either in a tailbag, or the "storage' area there. (I move it from bike to bike, depending.... )

I also wired the Gerbing thermostat into the bike's battery. I located the unit on the right side, with the lead coming out from under the seat. It has been tested down to 25F and wasn't all the way up!

The airhawk seat cushion allows far longer saddle time.

The tailbag holds my netbook computer and a place to put the electrics on the ride home when it finally warms up here in Texas.

I wrapped the grips with Tennis racket grip tape. (The stock are just too small for my big hands, especially wearing (heated) gloves.

Now I'm starting to think about a windshield....

Dani,

You may wanna try Grabon grip covers. They are foam covers that slip tightly over your existing grips. I have them on my SV650. They increase the grip diameter a bit and really help isolate some of the vibration. They really add to the comfort factor, which it seems you are after.

I think I got mine at dennis kirk. While they aren't nearly as cheap as your racket tape, they aren't expensive and I think will serve you better.

Let us know what you come up with for a windshield. I know there is alot of interest in something that deflects a bit more wind on the CR.

Can you take some pics of how you have your GPS mounted?

I simply mounted the GPS to the mirror stalk...

Excellent, thanks. I currently have mine mounted to the handlebar but it obscures the left side of the gauge cluster (not a big deal but I may try your method).

I think I would have used the RAM mount with the 10mm(?) hole and went under the handlebar bracket...actually, I think I would ditch those mirrors outright (they don't work for me)

I was never a fan of the security screw on the zumo, so I went with a touratech base on my FJR...it works very well and eliminated the high frequency vibration issues I had with my FJR.

The security screw is indeed a pain. I have a knob on the other mount, which I found for $5 on line, but I've lost the link...

FYI...I mounted my XM to a RAM mount as well. The FJR has a spare mirror hole on the right, mounted the 10mm hole RAM ball, then a short RAM arm, and put a ball on the XM base. You could mount the XM to the right mirror hole.

It would fit great if you relocate you mirrors to the bar end, but that is another post.
