Walking out of a theater in Anchorage in 1994 or 95 and there parked was the first Buell I ever saw in person. I wanted to wait there until the owner came out and talk to him. It took until 09 before the sun and moon aligned and I rode my new CR home.
I had a 750 GSXR at the time and the Buell had me in a haze. My friends gave me crap all day but I knew I would have one someday.
Hey it is a long winter and I wanted to say that I am new here (been reading the forum for years) but I respect Buell and the people that have provided them. It should be another month before I can get it out of the snow covered basement. And yes that 750 and all the sportbikes I have had since then needed tweaking and none were perfect.

I'd say it was circa 1990 when I saw my first Buell.
I was sitting at the traffic light at Hooper ave and Rt37 in Toms river NJ.
This guy was cruising down Rt37 and just pulls this incredidle wheelie at highway speed.
I was in awe! I didn't know what it was except that it had a Harley engine in it, and it wasn't a Harley
It wasn't till I told a long time friend of mine what I saw,he told me it was a Buell.
He is the same friend who bought a CR and informed me of Beulls demise.
Never would have thought I'd own one, but I'm glad I do.

Cheers,

Mike G

Well it sounds like I am a little younger than you guys. I say my first Buell in 2002. I went in to the Harley shop with my parents, they both had sportsters. I saw a Lightning sitting on the show room floor. I didn't know anything about it but I knew I liked it and I wanted one. from then on when ever I saw a Buell sign I made my parents stop and go in. They didn't care they looked at the Harleys and I looked at the Buells. Well I finaly got my first Buell in 2007. A 2003 Firebolt

First Buell I ever saw was in the Mid-90's in Topeka, KS. Some guy was riding it around to all the "spots". It sounded wicked to this teenager (at the time). It was also painted red, white, and blue. I loved it.

During the Harley 100th my parents and I were up in Oak Creek staying with the grand parents to go to my brothers graduation from Navy basic. Well, my parents wanted to stop by at Uke's HD. I saw the Firebolt sitting there and had to know more. The more I read the more I wanted that bike. In 05 I bought my first Buell the XB9SX. I now have the XB9SX and an 08 1125R. It's just to bad I won't have any reason to walk into HD dealers anymore.

Rombi,

The first Buell I saw was in Anchorage. Can’t remember the exact year, but it was in the 90’s. I lived most of my life in and around Anchorage. Moved to New Mexico two years ago. It’s time to get serious about retiring.

In 2003 at 53, and having been out of motorcycles since the 70’s I decided I was going to get a bike. I started hanging out at the House of Harley in Anchorage and Denali HD in Wasilla. Denali didn’t have Buell but they were a lot closer to home and I ended up with a Harley. Wasted a lot of money before I finally bought my first Buell here in NM. Buell’s are so intoxicating that they haunt you till you finally give in and buy one.

House of Harley was pretty wrapped up in the Buell stuff for a while. Don't recall the owners name but they were really nice folks.

Barry was his name. Can't remember his wife's. I think they own all the HD dealers in Alaska except the one in Juneau. They do a lot of business, 6 months out of the year. But their dealers were a fun place to hangout in the winter.

Bike show at the Festival Hall in Baltimore in 89? Only thing I can still remember from that show.

In November of 1991 I had just finished boot camp in the Great Lakes. Went to a local dealer and saw it sitting there. AWESOME!!
