Just delrin isn't a good idea. Delrin does crack and With those lift areas cut in the sliders will cause serious weakness. I machine sliders and know the brittle point. It looks good but in my experience with delrin that will crack.I'm not bashing I'm just giving you my thoughts with my machining experience. I'd hate to see them fail. | ||

They look to be threaded, so no nuts. I just bought the DHM economy sliders. they aren't fancy like those, but they look super strong.   | ||

Not to give anyone a hard time...but I did the same basic thing with these... I used all-thread as XB12 did. Nice job making them. As for them being threaded, if that's the case, you're going to lose clamp load over time due to the plastic creeping. May be worth changing the joint. | ||

The sliders from chaparral will work but they go in the tapped holes where the stock ones mount. They'll work if you want something bigger than the stockers. | ||

the thread goes 3/4 of the way through. it is very strong. i drilled them to 1/4" and then tapped them to 5/16th. they are threaded 1 1/2", i highly doubt they will strip out. i threaded them far enough to have rod through the lift point. im not too worried. i have a feeling they will seize on the bike before they creep. i put a set on my XB and hand tightened them and i had to use pliers to get them off. as for breaking in a crash. that is the point, they are suppose to get ruined. then i'll just make another set. im not trying to sell them and make a profit, so i dont guarentee anything. but i am confident in them. It's not striping I'm talking about. I'm talking about the plastic creeping. Creep is the tendency for materials to move while stressed, even if the stress is under the yield of the material. With metals, this movement is so small, that it often has no adverse effect. However, this is not the case with plastics. In a bolted joint, if there is clamp load on plastic, over time the joint will loosen. As a result, it is a bad practice to transfer clamp load through plastic. A good example of how to design around plastic creep is the bodywork shoulder bolts on our bikes. The shoulder seating against metals, avoiding clamp load on the plastic itself, takes creed out of the equation. I would go as far as to say that over time, if you don’t re-torque the slides, you’re going to lose them, falling off the bike. | ||

I agree with the creep but not the falling off... in my experience when you thread a metal rod into anything plastic it is like a lock nut effect... it will not likely vibrate off and like the op stated it will likely require extra effort to remove it after time. | ||
