Any thoughts? I saw thread begin to start on this subject, but it seems to have disapppeared into the archives. I have the colormatched fairing...easy? hard? What else do I need to get? | ||

Given prices, it seems like it would be cheaper to just buy an R. I guess that isn't really a helpful answer. | ||

You need just about everything in front of the steering head. It is not an easy swap. If you have someone in your area that wants the CR front end, your best bet is to meet up with him and swap all the components. It will run you nearly a grand if you buy all new stuff. | ||

Its actually pretty simple. Here is what you need: -- 1125R lights -- 1125R front fairing -- 1125R windshield -- 1125R mirrors -- 1125R fairing bracket -- associated nuts and bolts Your probably looking at $1000 for the conversion but you can sell your old stuff for about $400. I have the highrise bar kit for the 1125CR. I had to extend my clutch and brake electrical wires. | ||

I have the highrise bar kit and long clutch and brake wires on the bike already; I like the riding position better than the R, but would like a fairing for longer/cooler rides. Already have the front fairing and 1125R turn signal mirrors as well. (Message edited by Old_Mil on March 04, 2010) | ||

It would have been easier to go the other way... I bought a second top tripple tree, the CR high bar lines and cables and a 2" rise 1" pull back pair of risers and a set of drag bars.. I haven't fitted them yet but a quick trial fitting shows it all clears the fairing. Total cost is around $200-250. I also bought a spare top fairing in case I needed to cut it down but now know I won't have to so that remains a spare! The mirrors will need to come off but I have LED blanking plates and a reversing camera setup in the box ready too.. All I need now is to (a) make a decision and (b)find the time. If I thought I could put the high bar cables & hoses on and just swap back & forth between clipons and drag bars without needeing to remove it all I'd be more tempted but I suspect the overly long hoses and cables would be a pain.. | ||

Same reason as one or two others have posted on here before - so I can remove the mirrors and still see what's behind me.. For $45 it's a bargain, wireless cam mounts under the plate and a 2.5" screen in the fairing. No more squinting past my elbows to see behind. It's not something I thought of but it's something I am more than ahppy to copy! | ||

Jules - Doesn't your local Department of Motor Vehicles require mirror(s) as standard equipment? Can you get bike inspected with no mirrors? I'm not familiar with UK rules, so just curious - I'm not sure you can ditch mirrors and still be street legal here in the colonies. | ||

There's no "MOT" (DMV) test on vehicles under 3 years old in the UK so I don't need to worry about it for almost 3 years. Even then i suspect I can persuade my friendly test center to look the other way for that one requirement  |
