so a friend of mine and i were wondering how hard and expensive it would be to regear the 1125r? for more take off ie. -1 frt +2 rear etc. i had heard the cr had been regeared would it be easy as just doing a belt and belt cog swap? not really interested in doing a chain conversion or anything thats gonna be too costly.

If you have an r and want to go to cr gearing you have to change swingarm, "cogs" and belt to maintain proper tension.

Same belt.

Different tensioner bracket.

The real answer to regear the bike is the chain drive kit.

I believe the CR is a belt, rear pulley, idler AND swingarm swap, but let's get an expert comment.

For sure, the CR gearing requires a different swingarm, so it's not an easy project, either.

I think someone here made their own idler pulley to make the CR stuff work on an R, but that whole set up is a huge system of equations working together, so unless the solution has been engineered, I'd be highly suspicious of it actually maintaining the correct travel length and tension.

i.e. just because it works doesn't mean it's "right".

SAME belt, R to CR - as I stated above. The tensioner makes up the difference.

You also have to either reflash the ECM, or get an ECM that matches your gearing choice. That's where your speedo math lives.

The belt isn't the same. R uses a 145T, CR uses a 149T.

The tensioner can't take up 4 teeth worth of slack, there's no way.

The swingarms are different, as is the rear sprocket.

The front pulley and tensioner are the same between the two, but the tensioner bracket is different.

All this according to the parts book.

There is another option. There's a guy on here whose handle is something like mike1125. Great guy. Ended up talking for about an hour on the phone one day not long ago.

He had two over sized idler pulleys made. With one of these pulleys you can just change the belt and rear pulley to the CR. It works, he had them both on his bike. I bought the one he is not using. If anyone is interested I could easily be talked in to reselling it. I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up with the chain drive.

All you do is change the rear to Cr sprocket,Cr belt and install new cnc pulley. I will have to talk to my guy see if he will make more. If you want to know more message me.
