I would love the Free spirits, but the cost makes it a no go. My favorite is the Buell Race pipe, but cost is the biggest issue, so currently that is in 3rd place on my list. Unfortunately I can't justify the costs of any full system. First place would be the Drummer, second being the D_Adams pipe. I will probably pull the trigger on one of those two at the end of the month, depending on my finances.

Funny, Froggy, but I think the D&D is one of the best looking exhausts on the 1125R. If there wasn't the issue of potential scraping under big lean angles, I'd probably have bought the D&D. I agree that the Jardine, HMF and FMF look out of place on the 1125R--mostly due to the big standard-sportbike-style muffler poking its head out the side of the bike.

I really like D_adams' pipe and it was my first choice until I saw this exhaust. I really like the way both D_adams' and Barker's exhausts look since the muffler still stays under the bike and has a side exit. The claimed 17hp peak gain with Barker's exhaust is huge--even if it's half of that in actuality, that's still one of the biggest gains posted from just a slipon. But what I think will really tip me towards Barker's exhaust is that I can get the exhaust and an EBR ECM for less than the price of pretty much any other exhaust system out there. (My wife has me on a bike budget and if I spend $600-$700 on an exhaust, it'll be a while before I can talk her into letting me get an ECM. But if I spend under $400 on the exhaust, I can get the ECM at the same time. I thought the Jardine/HMF/FMF exhausts were just too ugly to justify buying even though they were that much cheaper, but Barker's exhaust looks good, IMO.)

I am waiting on the APEX full SS exhaust should get it in 3-4 weeks,as they built them to order, the only bad part is to install it I will have to rotate the motor down to access the rear pipe....sucks..

If Barker had gotten his project into production a month ago I would definitely gone for his Slip On over the HMF. Now that I have the HMF I'm probably out of the market for the forseeable future but it's a neat design and looks pretty good compared to the TH or Drummer.

Fleshrocket, (I feel so dirty typing that) I'm right there with you with the whole money but got to have the ecm thing. That is why I took that free can and made my own exhaust. I just wish they had those ecm's ready before I ordered the finned front rotor, now I have to wait another week for the funds to get the ecm.

On the D&D note of dragging them, I was thinking about(while making my new one)taking the D&D and making a jig or wooden buck and putting it in the vice. I've always liked the looks of the Yoshi tri-oval exhausts. If you carefully put a squeeze to it making sure the buck had very rounded edges I'm sure it could be done. Since the end cap isn't nearly as thick as some of there older ones used to be it could be shaped as well. The drawback would be if you had a baffle like I made that would have to be taken out and reshaped as well. I would still like to try it ,but I've earmarked the end can to adapt to the Mrs. Sporty since I can't find any Force for it anymore and couldn't afford if I did.

several years ago I had a Force exhaust on my 1998 Sportster s model it lasted less than a month before it fractured at the collector I had it mounted properly. Then when I shipped it back,in two pieces,I might add they said that I only sent one part of it back and were not going to refund or replace it, that was bull as I watched my parts manager at the time, wrap, package and seal the box..they aren't good people to deal with, finally had to do a claim with UPS to get my money back..

Wow, I'd never heard of any bad service from them before. Well I've got my mind made up, since the end can of the D&D is a reverse megaphone like the Force I'm hoping to get a pretty close sound quality out of it.

D_Adams is still my first choice just because there is a sound clip for it. I like the barker exhaust alot but just wish there was a sound clip

I'll fully admit that I only skimmed this thread and gave it a quick look, but that exhaust seems to be blowing right on the back tire... am I wrong?

I know there is two links for exhaust and i was wondering which one is the barker exhaust? Is it the silver one that looks like the buell racing exhaust or is it the carbon fiber looking exhaust?

they are both Barker you can get the silver one in black as well. The cf one is a mock up and will come with a turned tip so as not to blow on the tire

Jules,
I was told the black is a $50 option?
I too am considering painting it myself (If I get one).
VHT makes some good paint for this too, they offer different colors.
Flat black BBQ paint is my choice though.
Are you guys getting the quiet insert?

I have ordered 5 pipes so far, 3 with inserts and the other two without. All have been the raw aluminum can.

Puzzled, do you have a supplier for K&N filters? If so, any chance of bundling a K&N with the exhaust?

Also, is that discount you mentioned on Buelletinboard only good there or does it apply to us as well?

I can't offer the discount here or sell pipes here as I'm not a sponsor.

I was selling K&N's and honestly there are deals on Ebay which are very close to my dealer cost. So I stopped selling them.

Saw some pics of this Barker pipe on ebay and I have to say it looks rather unfinished compared to other offerings. Also, what's up that huge gap and 90 bend of the mid-pipe? Holy smokes.

Its been discussed on Buelletinboard. While not confirmed by the manufacturer, most have theorized that the large bend has something to do with the way the "reverse cone" design was made. I believe someone said the way the pipes taper, it didnt allow for the bend to be sooner. While I dont know for a fact, I would suppose it is part of the reason for the advertised gains in HP.
Yes its a eyesore, but if it is part of the reason it gives you 17hp, I can deal with it. Just buy a bellypan, thats what I am doing.

As Jornum1 stated the pipe is that way for a purpose. Tim Barker said it needed to be that long to achieve the pipe length he needed as well as not creating sharp bends. As the manufacture pointed out his gains with a slip-on are what you typically would see with a full system.

I think the Barker exhaust is actually really good looking, at least compared to the Jardine/HMF/FMF pipes. There are certainly better looking exhausts out there (D_adams custom designs are better looking, for example) but when it comes to the cheapest priced exhausts, Barkers is the best looking, IMO.

The pipe is perfect I love the raw look and it gives the ability to see the motor. Which to me is the heart of this machine. The added horsepower is just a huge bonus that I will probably never use.
