I got the chance today to ride for about an hour or so with the new race ecm. I know someone was concerned with the fuel economy so I checked it out. I rode like i always have with a mix of twisty back-roads and the highway back home. Here is what I got Stock ECM: average mpg 33 EBR Race ECM: average mpg 28 I'm willing to sacrafice the 5 mpg's for what it did for the bike. Its just a toy anyways | ||

Interesting. With my set up I get 38 with the OEM ECM and 31 with the pump gas ECM (O2 on), | ||

Dang, I was afraid there would be a loss. That is about 16.5% averaging the results of you two, so in theory I would drop to around 35/36mpg for my riding. I am curious what others report. (Message edited by froggy on February 04, 2010) | ||

The performance is well worth the loss in MPG. Plus on the positive side for daily drivers, its a total of 7 fasteners (6 for the pod, one for the ecm) and 3 connections (2 for the ecm, one for the bank angle sensor) it seriously took me 5 minutes to change ecm's for the first time. So its no pain to play during the weekends and commute during the week. | ||

That really is the beauty of having the stock ECM and the race ECM. This bike is a total play bike so I could care less about the mileage. I really enjoy this bike. | ||

how much of the mileage loss is due to enjoying the experience a bit more. Finding that new and perfect shift point with all that new torque! MMMmmmmMMM! Have your shift points moved down the rpm range or are you still in the honeymoon phase? dannybuell | ||

Dannybuell, I rode just like I always have even before the race ecm. Not because I wanted to but the roads are junk this time of year with gravel in the corners and pot-holes everywhere so i had no choice really. The shift points CAN move down now since there is an unbelievable amount of torque right off idle. My SOTP impression is that 2nd gear feels like 1st, 3rd like 2nd and so on. And the bike still pulls HARD past 120...like I would know  |
