i finally took delivery of my 09 cr and those darn mirrors are worthless. I have ridden with napoleon's down low for years and will need to to extend the bars out about 2 inches to keep them from hitting pods at full lock. Previously I have sawed off the male part of the mirror that goes into the bar and flushed that surface up to the bar end weight and with a longer bolt all done.

has anybody done this style of mirror down low and where did you source your parts?

is there an easy way to get those end caps off and do you remember how much of the grip was lost with this conversion?

Thank You

I am using Oberon's mirrors that can be hung low, high, or any position you choose. They are not adjustable when in place, but will give you that look.

The caps are glued into the bar ends...I used a pair of pliers and threw the caps away. Be aware of the stepped internal diameter.

The mirror I use doesn't require the grip to be relocated. There are other brands that do.

Only on my M2...waiting on my rizoma bar to complete the CR.

How "useful" is that mirror? Good enough to pass inspection, or good enough to rely on?

We don't have inspections in MI...only the ones by road side cops.

You need at least 75mm convex mirrors. Don't bother with the smaller types or flat glass mirrors. Adjustables are nice, but sometimes don't get the look you want.

I wouldn't suggest the above set up for regular use as it leaves the right side of the bike out of view. I am going to be putting two on my CR. This allows good view of the back and sides, but I wish Oberon used more curve to the glass to get a wider range of view.

The clubmans are tappered, so a traditional bar end will not work right. I had to add a piece of hose and remove the larger aluminum spacer that would normally go into the bar.

These are the cheap bar end mirrors on ebay. I'd like to try these.

I can't see the pictures at work, but I think I have those mirrors sitting at my house waiting for install. The glass appears to be very flat so I am not sure how "functional" they will be.

The glass does look very flat. You could always buy the cheap ones and swap the glass. Getting the glass out can be tricky though.

Yeah, my only issue then is that I get close to Oberon pricing. My plan is to put these on and decide if I like them (in concept). If I am not happy with the function I will buy the Oberons. I don't see how the glass comes out of these.

Getting the glass out is EASY!!! In one piece... that's tricky.
