Lowsided my 1125R in a tight right sweeper, around 20-25 mph. Just after sundown but before dark. Black asphalt road with a mixture of black gravel and dirt I could not see. It looked clear in the low light! How could I have been so stupid with my beloved Mighty Whitey?

All the times I have passed a string of capable sport bikes on some narley twisty roads and never had so much as a close call or even a nervous moment comes to mind, but that was all in bright daylight.

From now on, when it's getting dark and the road is dark shaded,......well you know the rest, It can happen to anybody.

On the good side, the axle sliders I got from Dark Horse Moto did just what they were supposed to do, thanks Keith!

Right pod, front brake lever, puck (cover) over clutch case ($165, yikes!) is all the damage of note. The mirror plastic can be sanded and painted as well as slight scratch on the exhaust heat shield.

Was wearing full gear with body armor, not a scratch or bruise on my dumb a$$.

Yeah, thanks guys, very glad I put the Passenger foot pegs back on right after I heard about Harley letting Buell go. That saved the tail section from any damage and even the passenger foot peg itself had only slight scratches, easily sanded out.

Glad to hear that the damage is minimal and that all the sliders did their job - and obviously that you are OK!

I was actually thinking of changing the rear pegs for solid (i.e. not flip up) ones for just such an eventuality...might speed that process up a bit now : )

Yeah I am super nervous about doing that since I removed the rear pegs. I've already gone down at speed and the rear pegs take the brunt of the abuse. Glad you ride ATGATT, my mechanic suffered a similar spill in his T- shirt and jeans at 20MPH and broke his shoulder in three places.

Sorry to hear that dipstick, I dropped mine the second day I owned it but I was only going 3mph. The scratched parts are gonna be on this bike as long as I own it. It's my way of cussing.

Be careful your tires probably aren't getting warm enough. My rear tire has 2k miles on it and wont stick to the road at all lately.

I had just come off a long twisty section of road and I'm sure the tires were warm enough. I just pushed the front end too hard on a section covered with enough gravel that there was never a chance for the tire to hook up with the road.

Hmm, this was on the street? Just yanking your chain, glad you are ok.

Even though I travel down the same 70 mile road 2x/ day, I treat it as a new road each time because it changes all the time. Worst time I've had lately was during tobacco harvest and they always drop leaves. Cars will smear them on the road leaving a slippery slimey smear that offers little or no traction. High pucker factor!

There's a few of us in this club.

I slid 20 feet out the parking lot at the H-D/B dealership I work at.
First thing I did after stopping was stand up, look around and see if anyone saw me go down.
ATGATT, I bounced, no blood loss. : )

After I realized my pride was somewhat intact as there were no witnesses, I went back inside and ordered the parts I needed to replace.
