is there a diagnostic method to poll the ECM and find out what flash version is in it?

It's done by the dealer, who can tell you exactly.

You can tell by the firmware version using ecmspy, but other than that, no.

Odd thing -
I checked H-Dnet for calibration info for my 08 and it showed TWO!!
It showed the old M3HUS04Z(skipped the 05Z) and M3HUS062.

I will be finally getting M3HUS062 today or tomorrow.
Very interested to see how well it runs compared to my "modified" 05Z.

Got the flash and it is a good one.
Almost as smooth as my old modified map, feels stronger up top.
Haven't ridden in a couple of days, it's been snowing. 10 dF right now.

Maybe tomorrow.
Awww... road outside doesn't look too bad, maybe I will ride today.

It's supposed to be in the upper 40s for my "week-end" TH-Fr I'll try to get some numbers.
