I got myself the 10000K, now, my question is, do these bulbs take awhile to get to full color? reason why im asking is because i just installed these and when i turned them on and let them run for about a minute the color is white with a little tint of blue and purple. or did i get the wrong color bulb. I want the Deep Blue.

Have you seen the color temp chart floating around?

It seems to me that 10,000K is about as blue as you can get without going into the purple look:

well...i did go into this project knowing that 10000K was the bluest i could go, when i ordered them they said they were 10000K on the receipt and everything thing, is there like a certain time frame for them to reach the "blue" color?

Justin:

They do take time to warm up. Do you realize that 50% or more of your light output is in the non-visible range. They may look real pretty but you are almost back down in the range of light output of a good conventional bulb.

But they do look neat.

Did you get 55watt hid's or 35's... On DDM's website they claim the 55watt hid's will flush out some color...Meaning a 55wat 10,000k bulb won't be as blue as the 35 watt 10,000k bulb...

WHy would you want them that blue anyways... I had 8000k in my VW a long time ago.. first time i made a serious night drive was from Dallas to Vegas... i immediatly ripped those bulbs out and threw them away...
Completely worthless for actually night driving...But this is just my thoughts..

If they are the DDM bulbs, you can contact them and buy some 4300k bulbs cheap. Also, like stated above, the 55w kits will wash out the color a bit. My 8000k 50w bulbs looks about the same as a 6000k 35w.

i just bought the 35w kit from DDM in 5000k cause i didnt want them to be blue at all. blue is bad! and i didnt get the 55w kit cause i thought it would get too hot. i run run my bike with both on for high beam so i would assume that they would cook the housing and the guy said you dont need the 55w kit, the 35w kit is plenty bright. i will be installing them in my xbs and the cr. Froggy, did you rig your high beams to run both or did you leave it stock?

I Just installed DMM's dual 55w 8000k In my CR (high and low beam) and its fantastic!

I run the high beam on 100% of the time. The housing doesn't get anything above nice and warm to the touch. And the 8000k is whiter and less blue than the 6000k 35's.

Imma start a new thread later today with install pics for ya guys as I have not seen anyone do both on the CR yet.

All I know is I have 5000k bulbs and I should have gotten the 4300k because they're too blue for my taste.

from what I can tell from what I have read is that OEM HID ranges from 4300k to about 4700k depending on the make I have a 5000k kit on order I thought that the 5000k looks blue but the light that hits the ground is accualy a white or am I wrong on this one?

i have the 35w ones, i wanted the 10000K simply for the look, but im not getting the look lol. as i said before, they appear as a white with a little tint of blue and purple. so im wondering if they just need to be on for many hours to turn blue or i just got the wrong colored bulbs in general.

Warmup should be 1 minute. You picked (edit: somehow received) the wrong color bulb.

10,000K should be dark blurple.

4,300-4,700 is OEM.

5,000 is bright white with a hint of blue.

6,000 is blue

8,000 is dark blue hinting at purple.

or it was packaged wrong
or...
or...
or...

what ever it was sounds like you have the wrong bulb

Skntpig...I had the 8000k 35w bulbs in my CR and they were blue. I switched them to the 6000k in 35w and they are white, not blue.

i have the ddm slim ballast hid kit with 4500k bulbs. they're a nice white with maybe an oh so slight hint of blue. i have excellent visibility with just the lows, so much so that the halogen hi's are merely there to annoy the oncoming traffic.
