I'M DONE! Called the dealer, high bar kit has NO future date now (was 1/15), cancelled my kit, checked the part numbers below to be in stock, ordered everything along with a Rizoma conical bar.

I'll post pics once it's together. FYI- American Sport Bike has all the parts including a single high bar left, so you could put together a complete kit for a little more $$. I decided to go with the Rizoma bar to try something new.

FYI, part numbers I ordered with typos fixed:
N0307.1AT
N0308.1AT
N0103.1AT
H1531.1AT
M0117.2AT
M0118.2AT

nick- The clutch line was missing the 'A', the slot cover was 117 not 177, etc... no big deal....the dealer took my list and adjusted the correct numbers.

Thanks for getting me started, btw. Those numbers were a big help.

Bets me. each part is in its own box, marked with Buell part numbers..
Thats the way it came from the dealer.
You don't have to buy them... I dont mind keeping them..Just an offer to have them now and not wait.

Supply and demand....
i guess no one has faith the kit will still be around..

Just my $.02 here....but, I feel like on these online communities there are two types of people. There are those that appreciate Buells and want to help others to enjoy their bikes. And then there are those that see an opportunity to try to make a quick buck off of someone...Kinda like the people in November trying to sell their 1125 with less than 100 miles on it for the $8000 when you know they only paid $6000. I'll get off of my soap box now....

Bmonty72, there's absolutely nothing wrong with making a quick buck... if someone buys a 6k 1125 and resells it at 8k, the BUYER felt he got a good deal , thus the reason he bought it...

Just cause the seller made money off the deal doesn't make him a bad person, that is how the world turns...the buyer paid more, but that is his loss since he chose to not be well informed and make the purchase anyways.

By no means did i get a STEAL of a deal when i bought my R, but i still got a hell of a deal compared to sticker...

What i can't stand is people who FORGET that these bikes were 11-12k dollars and the accessories were also pricey... These are the people that get a good deal, but still complained they got ripped off, or choose to lowball the seller on the price....

I sold my high bar kit to a fellow member and he paid retail. i bought the kit for retail + tax and he paid retail and I paid the shipping.. in the end i got what i wanted and so did the buyer, all parties involved are happy... Now had i made 100.00 and the buyer still got the bars whats the harm in that.. supply and demand.. kind of like those damn wii's back in the day... people were killing over those things... now thats Fking craziness.

whats going to be funny is when all these parts come back off back order and flood the market... but then again we may never see a highbar kit available again...

It's a coin toss.

B, I see where you are coming from but... Illbuell should be able to sell what he has for whatever he thinks he can get. I wouldn't want to pay more then list right now, but someone may. If they don't sell now you know they will in the future... and probably for more then he's asking now.

If the price is too high, don't buy it - your decision.

If Illbuell actually sells his bars for what he's asking, I'm going to ask him to sell my Blast on consignment !

I don't disagree that a fair price is whatever someone is willing to pay....good luck with the sale.

You all just need to do more research.
1. It is my understanding that the bars will be available once backlog clears due to it is a standard item for the 2010.

2. I called three places outside the DFW area and low and behold the third place has a set IN-STOCK.

Got the bar kit for $233.28 out the door from dealer in Houston.

I guess it just depends on how bad you want a set, how much work you want to do and how much you want to wait. (my 2nd step would have been to pay the extra $60 and get the set being offered for sale here on this blog for $300)

FYI...I have a list of dealers of are supposed to have a kit instock as of today if anyone needs.

Was anyone at the Laguna Seca MotoGP a few years back when it was 107 degrees? The vendors upped the price of water to $4 a bottle and almost started a riot. Capitalism run amuck.

Girlscantwo. There is no dealer in the U.S that has these bars in stock. I called a place online to get them and they looked up on there computer and found 6 harley/buell dealers in the U.S that were suppose to have them. Called up every one and they either said don't have them. Or said yea we have them, looked, then said oh guess we don't.

Never thought about the 2010 thing tho. They came stock on those bikes and by law they have to have them in stock for the next 7 years. So you "should" be able to wait it out. But if your not willing to chance it you can pay the premium. Excellent point tho girlscantwo. Forgot all about that them coming stock on 2010's.

there is no LAW about parts having to be available for x amount of time....that is an urban myth.
I know 100% for sure...i work in the automotive manufacturers area.

It's not like I have the paperwork in front of me. But they said when I bought the bike and read it else where that that they would have parts in stock for 7 years. I'm sure there's something on paper to back it up somewhere.

Automakers have to supply parts for the length of the Warranty Period. So legally HD only needs to supply parts for 2 years ...

actually they don't...a defunct brand is defunct. no matter what you hear, they have no LEGALLY binding obligation to make parts for any period of time.
The company i work for makes exhaust. we made the sky/solstice systems...the chevy ssr exhaust systems, and top kinematics. you cannot buy these now as repair parts. NLA no longer available. there is surely warranty on these, but no parts are being made any longer. the whole thing that people think the MUST make 7 years parts is total BS..they don't have to make anything
cannondale did not supply parts ...
indian didn't
ducati can't get parts for a current bike...

i could have paid the list price of the individual parts from guys like American Sport Bike, but the dealer gave me 25 percent off the parts and I paid about the same for the rizoma bar...not exactly pricy
