I searched here but did not find what I was looking for. 2009 CR, what style tender plugs into the tail? I am at work and was going to go buy one today. | ||

Any one should work. If you have a plug installed already your two prong plug end on the battery tender will plug right in. If you don't, the tenders usually come with the battery side you would have to install. | ||

My bike has the tail already on it from the factory, just want to get the right one so I don't have to take that one off and get another one or put another one back on. | ||

You should be set, just plug it in. Just make sure which ever one you get has the plug as well as the alligator clips. I'm pretty sure most all do these days. My 1125r has a plug with a third prong, I've never figured out what that is. Both my tenders have two prong plugs, they work just fine. | ||

The 3 prong plug is for the factory HD battery charger. Will work with the Battery Tenders. | ||

No, they did not come from the factory with the tender cable installed, it probably was the dealer. Only the 2010's left the factory with it. Every battery tender I have purchased came with all the wires needed, so if by some chance the one you get is different than the one on the bike, it would be no problem to install. I end up using the extras to put on the cage as it sits 350 days of the year.
The higher amperage ones just charges faster. The 1.25amp is fine. | ||

My buddy has a harley one and his is in Harley heaven storage so he said I could use his. No need to buy one this year. I also remembered I did not put stable in the old girl when I parked it. I guess I could put some in and push it outside and fire it up as it will be a couple months before I can ride. | ||

Rombi - no need to fire it up. No float bowls to fill, so whatever Stabil ends up in the tank is sufficient. May want to rock it back and forth a little to help with the 'mixing'. | ||

I bought the HD one because the dealership is 120 miles away and wanted to make sure it was the right thing. Pretty expensive. Later we picked up half a dozen for the atvs and other things at walmart. use the same plug for almost half the price. | ||

My battery tender eventually died ... After thousands of hours keeping several collector cars juiced up. Same day, my wife dragged me out to Walmart for something unrelated, and I picked up that Schumacher (sp?) maintainer/tender 1.5A for around $20. Uses the same plug/pigtail as my BT, and so far so good. Mike | ||

Battery tenders are "smart" they'll cycle the battery, trickle charging it to full load, draw a bit of current to test it and then charge it up again which prolongs the life of the battery.. You can leave them hooked up for as long as you like, that's what they're designed for | ||

fwiw, stabil is not really needed for cold weather storage. Extreme cold prevents the varnishing of gasoline. I live in buffalo, and have never once used a fuel additive for cold weather storage, and have never had the slightest issue. | ||

Diverting from the battery charger topic; but, to the gasoline storage issue. Are you better off with a full tank of gas (and 5 gals of gas that can break down) or a smaller amount that is easier to burn through? | ||

Make sure it's full. The less air with moisture in your tank the better. | ||

I got my self a cteck charger similar to the tender got it this fall be 4 I put mine away its a smart charger as well. Should be good the bigger one is the same thing that a lot of porsche, benz, bmw dealers use as for the fuel full tank or just about empty my opinion is full seeing as EFI realy dosen't care to badly and there is a coating inside the tank that if left empty can dry out and flake off causing more problems down the road | ||

With all the toys we have I always get the tanks empty as possible and have seafoam ran/mixed in. Then come spring you dump in fresh gas. Can't beat 90% fresh mixed in with 10% old. Better than running a full tank of old gas through your bike and smelling that old shit burning. | ||

I really doubt if you leave it empty it flakes. Nothing's engineered that dumb. I'v never in my life had to change the filter on the gas toys. Just diesel tractors go figure. | ||
