Has anyone been following the project badass in the super street magazine? Last month they put on the exhaust and protune3. This month they installed some tribute graphics for "the last of the breed". A very nice looking bike and they are going to follow with more updates next month.

Yes it is nice to see them doing this with a Buell all the more proof those HD fags gave up way to soon. The bike is coming along sweetly for sure.

They should be doing that in the parent publication though instead of SuperStreetbike. Nothing wrong with the mag. but its pointed at custom's and stunters.

The actual article in the magazine isn't bad. I am not real big on the graphic's they used but its cool to see a Buell being appreciated.
This is the only edition of this magazine I have purchased it was due to the buell being featured. I can see it being good for idea's though there is allot of customization info there.

109HP WITH a jardine and the protune? That's one sad dyno.

Yeah I am. Here is the thread I last month, http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/521983.html
I am going to swing into the store today and pick up a current copy of the mag. Must be nice having unlimited $$$ to play with your bike.

Is Buell's 146 hp off the engine not the rear tire? I only bought the mag because of the Buell project too. So when they are completely done w/the project I will not be buying it again for a bit. Oh being and MSF RiderCoach I found the MSF Course article interesting too.

Yes, but it should have still dyno'd in the 130-140hp territory.

Yep, looks like a sorry ass dyno compared w/these. About 140-ish hp seems to be the stock par. http://www.twinmotorcycles.nl/artikelen.asp?aid=53

-I am confused about this Dyno thing, for the 1125 CR/R I've heard any where from 109 to what is claimed @146. Thats a 37 HP difference. You could'nt even pick up 37 HP on any bike, with a map, filter and pipe.

-I was stoked about the wright up, atleast it's a Buell in a mag that primarily features $30-$40 thousand dollar customs.

146 is the advertised crank output measurement from the factory.

With the 152 tune on my all stock CR, I put 143 to the ground with 81 lb-ft, STD smoothing on the chart. My bike's PDI dyno was around 130, so it picked up a lot during break-in. The other line on the charts is the stock flash after break-in; I picked up 1hp and 1lb-ft with the new flash (woo-hoo!), but more importantly got the smoother power delivery.

Charts from my bike are in the "152 flash quantified" thread here:

The magazine's dyno stopped well short of the rev limit, and it isn't a Dynojet, so may be as much as 15% lower on reported rear wheel HP. Add another 5% for rev limit and 15% on top of that and you have ~132 RWHP.

I guess I just don't understand it being there instead of Motorcyclist magazine. This mag is just like has been posted.... a custom and stunter mag. Although it would be cool to see a custom CR. Hmmmmm my wife would kill me.

Blake is right, they used a Superflow dyno which is actually more representative of real power. Everyone is so used to Dynojet horsepower numbers that they get caught up in the ridiculously high numbers that they spit out. You guys shouldn't focus on the number so much, but the percent change. Unless you are in a completely controlled lab situation with an engine dyno, you can't compare numbers from one dyno to another anyway, especially a chassis dyno. Tire pressure, atmospheric conditions, operator weight, strap down tension, and dyno condition all throw variation into the mix.

All of the Buell racing development was done on a superflow dyno because they seem provide more repeatable results. The dynojet was only used to provide customer numbers because nobody understands anything but dynojet numbers.

Good point about the numbers. I believe that the focus should be that at least the Buell's are getting a lot of attention. I saw another show today on 2 guys garage and they bought a 2009 XB12R to take apart and build a hardtail. Hey to each his own.It was mentioned that the parts would be on Ebay. Great for us.

"they used a Superflow dyno "

And they cut the run at 9,800 rpm. Idiots.

IMHO. Blah. Jardine Ad. That is one of the sadest moto mags. I wonder if they have the newest flash? The new flash should turn the protune into an annoyance.

Its not a sad mag its just a performance test doesn't belong in it unless its a all out custom bike to boot. They should of ran this in Motorcyclist before Superstreetbike.

I was about to buy the Jardine card/pipe. I actually found lots of decent deals of people trying to get rid of their cards, but I could not find 1125 Jardine customers that were happy with any of the products, including the folks selling their cards.

True. I call BS on their claims of HP and Torque increase with the pipe and card. It's written with no critical stricture (probably in return for the free stuff) so it's just hype.

If you like the sound of the Jardine great..go for it. And the Tuner card will enrichen the mixture...but not in a completely useful way. I seriously doubt that even a seasoned tuner with a Dyno could get anything approaching an ideal mix going with the Jardine because the ECM is going to try and return to the mapped values. Unless the AFV stay at 100 100 the ECM is trying to adjust for an imbalance in fueling. You'll never see 100 100 with the Pro Tune...it's just not going to happen.
