Is anyone using aux lighting on their 1125r? Like the ones that mount on the forks? I do most of my riding after dark and am thinking about adding some but I am not sure if the charging system can handle that and my heated riding apparel.

Any ideas?

LED lighting should do the trick.

The charging system on the 08's suck, but the 09's should be able to handle it. I was intending on mounting lights to the lower tree like many Uly riders do, but the pods would of caused issues.

Are any of the charging parts from the 09 interchangeable to the 08?

Thanks for the link : )

I have been wondering the same, but the 09 stator is $679, so I don't feel like finding out the old fashioned way : )

Thanks for that link. I poked through it and there's a lot of interesting stuff on that site.

Found some high dollar lights that look great...but man 400 clams.

They mount on the 47mm forks of the Ully so I reckon they would fit.

The 07 Uly listed on the website has 43mm not 47 ; )

Anyway, I am curious to see the details on light output for those lights, I can't find any specs, even on power consumption.

i believe i saw a run turn type of module that would make the front turn signals work as running lights as well. i'm doing a tail light upgrade from robert at xb lights and adding a stop light module to the rear turn signals and i think i'll go ahead and convert the front ones to running as well. i've been run over from the back twice and had numerous pull outs in front. believe me it pays to do as much as you can to be seen. i'll poke around for the link to the front module and post it as soon as i can

I bought a set from BUB lights for 130 bucks - a pair...
I wish I'd gotten the small ballasts, but the big ones worked for me.

Very bright

Hey thanks for the info on the fork diameter. I see the Uly got bigger forks later on...did not know that. I had an 07 but traded for the 1125r back in 08.

THis works:

PIAA 1100X

As Zac stated for your low beams HID is the way to go. Best deals lately is: http://www.ddmtuning.com/index.php?p=product&id=10 1&parent=85 That kit is $49.95 for a pair, with slim ballasts.

Drop me aline for more details.

Yep the DDM tuning HID kit is fantastic. I took the H7 off my wrecked XB and put it on my CR.

What's the bulb type and recommended color range? I see the 55 watt one @ 8000k is about the same color as the 35 watt @ 6000k. Anything over that range turns blue more than white, so I plan to stay under that range.

H8 is the type you need. If you go for a color temp over 5,000k you are actually loosing light output in the visible spectrum. By the time you reach 8,000k you are down ~25-30% (IIRC).

I prefer the 5,000k or 6,000k myself. Anything higher and the light in our visible spectrum drops off quickly.

Here is a discussion we had about a year ago: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/333928.html

So what wattage would be best for heat/temp in the 1125R? I don't really want to cook the lenses on it.

Go with 4300K if you want the same white that OEM luxury cars use, also its has the highest light output. The stock 1125R bulbs are 35w, so personally I would get a 35w kit for them. I don't know if the R housing can handle the additional heat output of the 55w kit safely. I will measure the temperatures of both my R with stock lights and CR with 50w HID/55w stock bulb and see what gets the hottest.

I like the 35w with 5,000k bulbs. The "temp" is a way to define the color of the light not how hot it is as far as like touch.
