Damn it. Taking it into NYC Buell this Saturday for an estimate. The DHM sliders did their job as did the RS pod, but I definitely need a new RS mirror/turn signal assembly and clutch cover slider...

Sounds real similar to my low-speed low-side on Loretta not a week after putting the sliders from Keith on.
Hope you bounced and aren't too stiff/sore Jaime -

I was in full winter attire. My rib cage is a bit sore (my elbow got driven into my side by the fall) but that's about it. My Roadcrafter doesn't even look scuffed! Judging from my helmet, though, my head did momentarily make contact with the ground because there are some scratches in the paint I don't remember seeing before. Boots are scuff-free too.

Looks like the only damage to me will hit me in the wallet.

Cosmetic stuff can be replaced, as long as you are fine chock it up as a learning incident. Make sure your lid is ok, your head is worth more than a replacement helmet.

That has to suck ... I've never been down on a bike, but realize it's a real possibility. Sometimes seeing stories from others helps keep me extra alert. Hope you're on the mend!

I was just talking to a bicycling buddy of mine. This is similar to the kinds of falls I used to have on the bicycle all the time (he's familiar with them too). I actually got MORE injured in the bicycle accident because the only protective gear you wear on those things are the helmet and padded, fingerless gloves! Also, you're higher off the ground on a typical road bicycle than you are on a motorcycle so the drop is even HARDER.

On the downside, I don't "bounce" as easily as I did back in the days when I rode bicycles either...

Just got off the phone with Al at American Sport Bike. I needed to get two replacement Delrin buttons for my DHS axle sliders. The dealer won't have THOSE in stock, that's for sure.

The only thing I'm REALLY upset about is the fact that my Buell shoulder bag (the one they gave away for doing demo rides a few years back) was DESTROYED. Part of the reason I wasn't hurt was that I landed on THAT when I hit the ground. That's the only thing that was irreplaceable.

I have the Signature Series, so I put the gouged up one in my bench-top lathe and cleaned it up.
Side benefit was it looked better the more I polished it, so now all 4 sliders are polished.

Loretta loves her jewelry.

I second that thought on the bicycles Jaime. I had a 40+ mph crash in a criterium sprint back in '92 and I ended up beat to hell (burned away a quarter of my helmet on the pavement). Much worse than the last motorcycle accident... and that one involved a car pulling out in front of me.

In any case, glad you are not hurt.

That clutch cover slider is $160 if I'm not mistaken. It almost defeats the purpose.

Remember the laptop bag Buell gave away as a promotional item a few years back? That's the one. Can't even find any on eBay. Damn shame because that was a NICE bag.

I just noticed a dime-sized abrasion on the right shoulder of my Roadcrafter suit. Surprised I didn't notice it before. No biggie, though.

I PLAN on bringing the bike in tomorrow but we have a blizzard watch in effect starting sometime tomorrow till late Sunday morning. What perfect timing!! If I do manage to get it in, I'll see about getting the latest flash too.

Keith, just noticed I called them "DHS Axle Sliders." I think you know I meant "DHM." Nice work, and they just paid for themselves I suspect. Thanks!
