Was out at the dealer where I'd bought my CR picking up my Christmas present (service and elec diag manual), and the denoid resistor I'd special ordered a while ago had also come in. The question - my CR was delivered with the 152 flash, I'd made sure of that. I never had the "noid issue" that I was aware of. I heard somewhere that the problem had been suppressed with the new flash.

Does anybody know if this is true? If so, I spent $6 for nothin'!!!

Yeah...the noid is real. It's about pitched me over the bars a few times.

Denoid and be done with it.

...Or just stick it in the drawer until you need it. And no, not a waste.

"I never had the "noid issue" that I was aware of." Neither have I, on my 09 R.

"Does anybody know if this is true? If so, I spent $6 for nothin'!!!". I'll trade you for my R, straight across; that's more than my entire bike's worth here, with its low profile and heavy competition for sports bikes. Oh, and Buell being out of business.

(Disregard the 131/141/142/152 'facts' below. My bad, confusion since corrected by a later post. But still, that noid function is still in those factory flashes if you ask me!)

I can't say for sure, but I can't see how Buell would have cancelled the noid function in the latest release. It would still have to pass (and maintain) the EPA noise standard, so my money says the 152 flash had no changes to noid. The R equivalent to the CR 152 is 141. I can engage that noid condition just as easily with 141 as I could 131 (the CR's 142). Since I have the resistor, I just get the CEL ... And that always makes me happy the noid function is gone!

You're confusing yourself Mike. 141 was for the CR, 142 is the R. 131 was the old R flash like you said and 152 is the new CR flash.

So we have

CR 141-152
R 131-142

If that's wrong, then you can blame that guy who makes tunes for our bikes, but doesn't support this site.

Oh, you still wasted $6, because all you need do is disconnect the cable. I just left the noid there incase Florida starts doing motorcycle inspections.

Correct ... My bad. The R went 131 to 142. The CR went 141 to 152. The old brain doesn't work like it used to. Better than having to say "Speak slowly, I'm a natural blond". I did consider just disconnecting the cable, but a $6 job that only required me to remove the front seat? Sign me up!

my cr came with the 152 flash, and in the few miles I managed to put on it, I did not get "noided" despite me trying to do so. (WOT / 3rd gear / from below 3Krpm's right?)

Same here, I've been unable to cause the 'noid to kick in on my '09 CR.
I test rode an '09 R before buying my CR, and twice during the ride I caused it to kick in. I was very concerned, and bought the resistor from American Sport Bike. I never installed it though, since I've yet to cause my CR to stumble due to any WOT applications.

Even though I can make mine do it, I can't make it do so with 100% success. There's that combination (to include high enough temp) ... But on that rare event I'd hit it, I'm all too happy to not have the TB close!
