Has anyone out in Cali had a chance to stop by LaminarLip with your CR for them to mock-up a prototype SpeedScreen? There was talk of this a month ago but I have seen no further updates.

I thought the more local guy was going to take care of it. My bike is occupied at GPR helping them with steering damper fitting. : )

agreed the front end gets super twitchy when it gets light on hard acceleration!

Correct body position fixes that. A steering damper is just a band-aid.

Agreed.
So far (on any but one past bike) was a damper required.

I've pushed my CR (AND my XB12R) fairly hard on the straights and corners/curves, with no problem.
Not that I might not ever run into a problem...but not so far

Maybe like XI1200 says, my 250lb frame located where the chassis likes it helps..!

Let's get back on Laminar Lip. I sent them an email and this is what I got:

The Internet forums have been generating a lot of interest for us to come up with a product for the Buell 1125CR. And, whereas we have half a mind to create something, there are two caveats. First we'll need to decide whether or not anything we do make will be worth while for 1125CR owners. Since our product works in conjunction with an existing windshield, and the CR doesn't have one per se, anything we do make for it will probably only help minimally, which may not seem cost effective for CR owners. The 1125R will have better luck with one of our products. Second, should we decide to tackle making something for it, we'll need someone local to Southern California to stop by our shop for a few hours so we can fit something onto it and have them test it. Honestly, we're leaning towards not making something for it, however, if someone local does manage to contact us, that may sway us to give it a college try. This hasn't happened yet.

Nothing we currently have will adapt onto it.

Avc8130-thanks for getting back on topic of my (hijacked) thread! Sounds like they are not real interested but sure would be nice if someone in the area could stop by for a fitting. If not, I guess I have a project for my week vacation at the end of the month. I did a little plexiglass bending earlier this year for another project so I think I'll see what I can come up with for the CR.

I'd like to have a little fly screen for my CR. That would be the bomb!

There is one optional fly screen available for CR. It's Ilmberger Carbon Fiber:

That's a LOT expensive and it would look really out of place on a bike that doesn't have another piece of carbon fiber on it.

How much higher is the carbon one? $300 isn't too crazy, I know a guy that could make one for $150.

Not EXACTLY what I want, but something like this bolted to the existing one would work for me.

Won't help me any, this bike doesn't even know i'm aboard. I even have the clubman bars, it would be ridiculous with the high bars.

I would buy that carbon fiber flyscreen if it was sanely priced.}

(sort of thread-on) I've noticed the few times I've taken the bike above 90mph that the front end gets very light compared to my XB9s. I'm wondering if that may be due to the pods? The little bit of air they catch might possibly create lift, but I have no clue. If it were so, I think a laminar lip design that added a slight amount of down force would be beneficial to high speed handling.

My front end gets light too regardless of speed, but the issue isn't the pods, its the extra 50 or so horsepower ; )

Froggy, did you ever attempt to mount the Palmer windscreen to the CR?

Nope. Now I have to dig back 5 years into the memory bank, but if I remember right width of the mounting brackets was the issue. Palmer makes Ulysses specific brackets which mount in the factory holes, but they also make a universal kit that you just drill into the flyscreen with. I have the first universal kit he made mounted to my Lightning, and if I remember right I held up the universal brackets and there was some issue with not having enough room or something. The Lightning flyscreen is flatter overall than the CR flyscreen, I believe that may have been the issue.

I'll have to dig them up again and take another look.
