I've changed my triple clamps and was wondering what the procedure is for tightening the steering stem nut (tensioning the head bearings) I figure doing it right would be better then doing it to tight

Aj, just for you.

page 2-56:
steering stem cap nut: 38-42 ft-lbs
steering stem pinch bolt: 20-22 ft-lb
fork tube clamp bolts: 20-22 ft-lb

page 1-49
Steering stem bearings resistance:
Turn wheel far right, hook spring scale into front axle. Pull wheel to center. Scale should read b/t 1-7 lbs when wheel is pulled to center position.
