Does anyone know what size the factory accessory plug wire is?

I have to admit I just spent 20 minutes digging through the electrical diagnostic manual and I STILL can't find what size the wire to the accessory plug is.

Any help?

Because I want to turn the factory block off plug into a source for my heated grips (non-Buell). I wanted to use the same size wire. I tried 14 or 16 (had it lying around) and it didn't fit the pins properly and I couldn't install them. I will try 18. I didn't want to try 18 and need 20 so I figured I would ask.

On the topic of the accessory plug ..... is that located just below the fairing bracket? ( I'm installing heated grips as well)
Thanks

I found the one on my CR behind the flyscreen. I haven't gone digging for the one on my R yet.

Avc8130,

What did you find out about putting a switch in the factory housing? Any other ideas that you have regarding this project would be appreciated, too.

I found a Cherry switch that I was able to fit into the control housing. Looks ok. Took a little cutting. I was able to route the 3 switch wires out of the control housing. I put them in shrink wrap, but didn't shrink it as it better matches the factory wiring this way. Luckily the Buell controls look cheap so just about any cheap switch matches nicely.

Sounds good. Any way you could take some pics of what you've done and post them up?
