Hard to beat the "bang for the buck" deal Sportbike Track Gear is running on the Power Race DOT tires.

I just ran a set at Jennings, and while I'm not a big Michelin fan, I'm impressed with the Power Race tires.

Ow, yes, that's a good deal. I was planning on putting on BT-003's for my upcoming Laguna Seca trip, but I may change my mind at that price. I do really like the 003s, though.

So forgive me if this hijacks the thread - but when you're doing a track day or whatever, are you swapping out tires you already have, (a set of track day tires), putting on different wheels altogether, or having someone put on a new set of tires for you (or doing it yourself), and keeping your street tires to put on afterwards?

I have been using the bt-016's. I like them alot for street riding and track riding. The have held up great.

I've been out of the street scene for a while but the Michelin Pilot Powers and the Pirelli Corsa's are supposed to be great street/track tires.

If the BT-003's are anything like the old BT-002 you should love them. The 002's were very sticky and gave good feedback.

I love the Pirelli Supercorsa's for a heat cycle tire.

It depends if you have a spare set of wheels, which is always nice and makes switching tires very easy. Especially when you have 2 sets of loaded wheels (full with bearings, rotors, pully/sprocket etc.)

I'm assuming most guys that ride street only have one set of wheels and either buy a good set of street/track tires and use the same tire for both, or they switch tires on one set of wheels.

Any of the above. Depends on how committed you are, what state your street tires are in, etc. etc.

When I had the ZX-14 it was kind of a no-brainer, since I went through rear tires in 3K anyway, it wasn't a big deal to plan for upcoming track days. With the 1125 I'm keeping an eye out for spare rims. When the BMW S1000RR shows up next year, I'll probably keep track rubber on it, and adjust between it and the 1125 depending on what's coming up and what group I'll be in, etc.

But I only run 3-4 days a year. The guys who are serious about it usually get spare wheels and/or dedicated track bikes.

I'm still keen on the OEM Corsa III for track days with the 1125r. Start your pressures at 28/28, and target a 32 Front and 30-32 rear pressure, HOT off track.

I STRONGLY DISLIKE the BT003RS on the 1125r. The steering is heavy and cruiser-like, and you use up GOBS of lean angle for the same turn. They are very sticky and confident, but handle slowly and do not last.

I get 4 track days from a Corsa III. The BT003RS was done in not quite two.

I like the OEM DC IIIs too. They warm up quick, stick very well and when/if they do slide its very predictable.

If you're a super-duper fast guy you'll want to get a track tire, but for fast intermediate/slow advanced group its hard to beat the OEM tire.

Hats off to the factory to the nice rubber right out of the box.

I think the Corsa IIIs would be fine, certainly above my performance level, but I just plain don't like them and don't want another set on the bike for street use.

Interesting what you report about the 003RS, as I absolutely loved them on the track on my ZX-14. Much different bike, of course.

Any recent experience with the *new* BT-OO2RS?

I think the Corsa III stretches further than Hellgate gives it credit. I am presently running times that would have me in the lower half, but not at the bottom, of CMRA novice times at my home track. And, it's not constant tire slides that are holding me back.

The front tire on the Corsa III, in particular, is very confident and trail brakes wonderfully well.

The BT003 is the replacement for the BT002. In both cases, the front tire is a very round profile and it's VERY tall. On the 1125r, this means slower steering. If you are serious about this tire, I'd recommend lowering the front end a bit by raising the forks in the triple clamps.

Hey, everybody is different, but I like a slightly twitchy bike. The 003 is best described as positively lethargic, so someone wanting to slow down the 1125r twitchiness might love it.

Dont risk anything when it comes to tires.....i would put tires you feel totally comfortable with on your bike. If you have doubts dont run em.


I can speak from experience that i have not felt grip like the grip i felt out of a nice warm set of Michelin POWER RACE Tires.

I have a spare set of wheels complete with rotors, pulley, and such. I also have my own tire changer, but having a second set of wheels makes tire swaps easier.

I have a trackday this weekend at Tally GP on the CR and I am going to start with the Corsa III's with tire warmers. I want to set the pressures hot, right before I hit the track.
Suggestions???
I run low 17's at Jennings on a racebike but I am on my street CR. Will the Corsa III's be ok to run hard.

On warmers, set the front to 31 and rear to 29. Adjust to a hot goal of 32/30-32.

I like a soft tire and a firm suspension. The hot numbers come from my local Pirelli tire guy.
