Author Message   Joebuell Posted on Monday, November 30, 2009 - 09:16 am:        did a search. did a google search. found much ado about sourcing the alum and copper washers but nothing about why... my 2009 service manual makes no mention of a copper sealing washer. only two alum ones. where did the copper washer get listed as a required part for service, and why would there need to be different washers? why can't they both be alum?   1_mike Posted on Monday, November 30, 2009 - 10:18 am:        Because they are different sizes. WHY...are they different....no idea..! Funny, the dealers don't have the right number for the aluminum washer. The book calls out for two copper versions. I had three different dealers give me the part number for the copper washer. Finally, I got the proper number for the aluminum washer and ordered a five pack. I think we need a similar section in our 1125 Board, and this issue belongs in it. If it is a seperate item, how much are they charging?   Sknight Posted on Monday, November 30, 2009 - 11:17 am:        The $20 dealer filter comes with an o-ring, but someone measured it and it matches up with a Buna-N 141 o-ring. Now you can get the aftermarket filters much cheaper and get o-rings for pennies instead of the $7 I heard HD charges separately.   Milt Posted on Monday, November 30, 2009 - 12:22 pm:        Sknight's observation belongs in some permanent, easy to find place. I apologize for pointing to Thumper Forum's Knowledge Vault all the time, but I think these guys got it right. I must sound like a broken record (a simile meaningful only to us old coots). The top level Knowledge Vault seem to be strictly for the air-cooled crowd.   Bobbuell1961 Posted on Monday, November 30, 2009 - 12:32 pm:        one of the washers is shown twice towards the front of the parts book w/the crankcases, the other is much futher in the book,if i remember it is listed w/the external oil lines and maybe the filter,i don't have a parts book in front of me. hope this help,Bob
