It's a carnivorous fish that lives in tropical oceans. I believe it is one of the swiftest animals in the ocean as well. (Message edited by jaimec on November 16, 2009) |

"It's a carnivorous fish that lives in tropical oceans. I believe it is one of the "SWIFTEST" animals in the ocean as well." Jaimec is completely correct and I might add from a fishermans point of view one of the "SPORTIEST" |

"I had a 1972 340 'Cuda back in the day and wonder if my 1125 is ALSO a barracuda? " If your 1125 is slower than my 1970 Buick GS455s were (I've had 2), then yes it's a 'Cuda. |

Buick Grand Sports... Nice. I like the Barracuda name. Hopefully we get to see this bike come to life in a couple of years and go buy one. Have faith. |

But how does this name fit into Buells use of Greek Mythology? Is there another name that would fit that begins with a "B"?? I am just wondering if Barracuda is really the name. |

I hear ya RDE. The only names I could find that start with a "B" in Greek and Roman mythology are: Bacchus: Roman Equivalent of Dionysus. Bellerophon: Corinthian hero; killed Chimera with aid of Pegasus; tried to reach Olympus on Pegasus and was thrown to his death. Bellona: Roman goddess of war. Boreas: One of several Winds. Briareus: Monster of hundred hands; son of Uranus and Gaea. Briseis: Captive maiden given to Achilles; taken by Agamemnon in exchange for loss of Chryseis, which caused Achilles to cease fighting, until death of Patroclus. It might be possible that maybe the Barracuda was just the nick name or code name of the project bike or concept. The actual name of the bike itself would be on the bottom of my priorities if I were designing a new model right next to "Bold New Colors Schemes". Surely there are some I missed. But that's what I could pull from a quick search. |

This would bring the "new school" into the same theme as the "old school". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairey_Barracuda Just a guess |
