It finally came after 3 weeks of waiting. A few issues with it though, most not Buell's fault. They fairing stay is broken. Im not sure if the shipping company strapped it down by there. There are some scratches and scuffs on it. All were noted with the driver delivering it and the claim has been submitted. The one issue I have so far is that the bike shuts off if I whack the throttle from idle. At least it does in neutral. I havent done that while riding since the bike doesnt have any miles on it yet. Would that stalling be caused by the computer not having a current flash in it? Could it be caused by the engine not having really any miles on it yet? So far, everyone that has seen the bike has loved it. | ||

They don't like having the throttle 'whacked' from idle. *Roll* the throttle. Forget the vroom-vroom noise and the throttlewhack, all it does is waste fuel... | ||

Mines stalls if I blip the throttle too hard in neutral. It's a lazy IAC motor and I believe there's nothing wrong with it, just don't chop the throttle hard in neutral. Mine hasn't stalled once, least not on it's own! | ||

I always see the Harley guys revving the bikes at traffic lights. I thought it was a requirement. Seriously though, its my first twin, so I keep wanting to hear the sound. | ||

Anyone know how much a fairing stay for this bike costs? I would search, but Im on dial up at work and it sucks to try to search anything. | ||

A fairing stay? And I wouldn't be revin the piss out of a brand new bike even with a load on it (while being rode) let alone free reving it. Take it easy let the rings seat properly and everything to break in. THEN ride the piss out p it! Good lucky with the new bike ull love it | ||

I wasnt revving it high. Just hitting the throttle and it would shut off. I dont know what Buell calls it. The plastic piece that the instrument cluster and front plastic is attached to. | ||

I guraantee that the HD crowd is also not wacking the throttle from idle. You want to see something choke and cough it's a big twin being flogged right at idle. When you have the motor figured out, you can blip it when done correctly from where the power pluse is at, or you can simply roll it to just off idle and then blip. | ||

I took a test ride on an '09 model in December 2008 at the Cycle World motorcycle show in Long Beach. That bike did the same thing where it would stall any time the throttle was opened suddenly. It did it in neutral sitting still, and it also did it while moving. The argument could be made against revving the engine sitting still because it is pointless. However if you want to match engine speed to the transmission while downshifting, being able to rev the engine quickly without it stalling is a necessity. I was pretty angry that the bike did this considering that this was the unit Buell put out there for the public to ride and form opinions on. The Buell guy there said it definitely shouldn't do that. The one I purchased in January 09 does not do that. Tell Buell and have them fix it. | ||

I have, and I have also owned a Harley. They are not "wacking" the throttle from idle. You can throttle off idle to bring the engine up and then blip from there, or keep it from going all the way to idle, but it's much harder to do right off idle. Not to say that it absolutely can't be done though. There may have been a few that I have rode that have had enough tuning done that would be able to do it, but not the vast majority. (I've rode many HD's as I am an ex dealership employee) And stock they get a nice puff back through the air cleaner when wacked. FWIW, I've also seen plenty of import sportbike riders blipping the throttle while at a light also, so it's not just a stupid that is reserved for the HD crowd. | ||

Typically a sportbike rider will just hold the throttle open and bounce off the rev limiter for several seconds, vs the typical HOG would just blip the throttle. Both are equally annoying. |
