Thanks to the great threads here on BadWeb I got my hands dirty tonight. It all started with filling and bleeding the weeping clutch...which went flat last night on a long ride. It was the first time it's acted up so I immediately searched and found the required info. I now know what parts to ask for tomorrow when I call the dealer. For now it's back in action...and with 70's in November I gotta keep the bike running: D

For some reason I always start wrenching as the sun sets so I backed up the 'bota and turned on the work lights and decided to have a look at this Solenoid I've heard so much about. Friday evening I order the requisite Deutsch Plug Resistor from American Sportbike and to get the order minimum threw in a quick release seat kit.

It could not have been easier to pop off the lead and plug in the dummy load. I then installed the pins and jam nuts and they are pretty slick.

Feeling chuffed at my early wins I went ahead and opened up the airbox (my first time poking around in a non-tuber) and did a complete Noid-ectomy while I was in there. Many thanks to the pointers on how NOT to break that little tab at the bottom. I secured the noid cam and throttle cam together with a high quality cable tie. The Noid is indeed a hefty piece.

I decided to reassemble without the inner airbox cover just to find out how that would sound and give it a little butt dyno.

And finally I removed the passenger pegs. I am conflicted about this because I know from experience those pegs keep the bike from much worse damage when you go down at speed. So those might go back on. But I really like the look and it's more weight shed.

Just thought I'd post this to say thanks and encourage anyone else that is curious about tinkering with their 1125.

Oh, and it's LOUD without the inner airbox...not in a good way. I gotta wonder if that's gonna wear me out on a 300 mile jaunt. But it does have a much lighter and more positive throttle action now and it seems to accelerate more rapidly...or at least it sounds like it does : p

Next up K&N Filter, HMF slip-on, Jardine Pro Tune III. If it aint broke keeping fixing on it till it is. ; )

The tab on the fuel rail.

Ram air doesn't come into effect until triple digits, if I remember correctly.

OK I'll bite. Yes I do know about the Ram air. Frankly it's a tad on the loud side. Not sure if the inner cover will stay off or not.

BTW total weight taken off the bike so far:

26.21oz Inner Airbox Cover

27.58oz Solenoid

2.8oz Peg bolts

23.58oz Left peg (partially ground off lol)

23.71oz Right peg

103.88oz Total removed

6.4925 Pounds removed
