My early model 08r has overly stiff springs (.99 kgm) or something like that. Anyway, purchased a set of race tech springs that are near in stiffness to the 09r. However, the springs are a different diameter than stock and require a different length spacer than stock. Yes, they match the part number specified by RT. I made a new, longer, spacer using a similar pipe (very similar!) to replace the oem. However, now, the forks make a muted scratching noise that it didn't make before. I rechecked everything to make sure I didn't leave any parts out and assembled the forks like it said to in the service manual. Anyone have any ideas?
