I have had this happen at least 3 times and just attributed to new bike, tight engine, high compression, whatever stuff. I noticed a few people have had stator issues that caused this problem does this throw a code when it happens due to stator? anyway to check this issue out before leaving my bike at a dealer? I usually do my own service.... next mod is a service manual thanks todd | ||

oh I should mention this has only happened putting in town, not in the twisties. 1000 miles so far | ||

when decelerating the bike has stalled, shut down whatever and I noticed a few people here have had their stators replaced because of this symptom. My bike has done this a few times when putting around town in the past 1000 miles. just curious if the people that had bad stators got a check engine code or what diagnostics were performed to determine bad stator | ||

Ive had this happen on my 09 R. Did it 2 times on decel with clutch pulled in. I noticed how smooth and quiet the bike was and realized it has stalled. Just thumbed the starter while rolling with the clutch still in and she started right off and away I went. Both were in the first 400 miles | ||

I had the stator issue. It does NOT throw a code. Harley has a service bulletin about this from March 2009. Take it in and make 'em fix it. | ||

is this issue a stator issue?? I have this happen to me almost all the time, i have gotten use to it though and it helps me decelerate faster when slowing down without using the brakes. when i notice it you can hear the engine not firing, i crack the throttle a slight quick twist and it fires the engine back up. I am use to it when coming to a stop that i just hit the starter again and continue (while rolling i hit the starter button). DONT just drop the clutch, i have found that compression is high or something so my rear tire will lock and slide. -Nivek | ||

Are we sure this is stator related? It sounds like a ECM programming issue like incorrect fueling or spark. | ||

Tbowdre, My mechanic at the HD dealership knew what it was straight away. He showed me the bad one that came out of my bike. From what I understand, running it with a bad stator for too long can cause the crank position sensor to go out as well. Froggy, I suppose IT IS incorrect fueling and spark since the ECU doesn't know where it is in relationship to the engine cycle. I am sure that other things can cause this, but it is a known issue. Eweaver - Finally....someone see's the light. MANY, including my CR have had this malady. It does NOT die any longer now that I have added fuel and spark to the factory maps. Mike | ||

interesting... thanks eweaver. I just got flashed yesterday and no stall on a short 50mi blast today.... Guess i will just watch and see what happens in the next few hundred todd |
