Drewpy will tell you all you need to know. Just traded his RC with 34,000 miles on an 1125R.

The RC is heavier, has less power, and a longer wheelbase.

I have RC51 & 1125R. RC51 feels lighter to me.

If the specs I found are reliable, the Honda weighs 55+ lbs more dry. I dont think the extra .5 gallons of fuel the Buell holds will make up for that difference.

On another note, I had the chance to ride an RC51 on a couple of occasions and as much fun as it was, the ergos would have been impossible for me to live with if it were a street rider. I find my 1125r far more comfortable. However, every individual fits a bike differently.

I was at the drags with a mint and piped RC51. No contest. The 1125R was half a second quicker and 6mph faster through the traps every time. My bike was bone stock.

I've got a Drummer on mine, and even with a baffler I made to take some of the excess noise out, it's the most bad-assed sounding bike I've ever heard.

How 'bout going head to head with 1000 units of each make and how many have to go back to the service dept in a two year time frame.

No one is questioning Honda's quality... the best in the game imo but, the Buell is more fun. I have a decent amount of seat time on a rc51 that my uncle used to own and I can only compare it to a CR but the Buell seems to be more capable in all aspects of acell, brake, and handling. Although it has been some time since I was on the 51.

I think the buell looks heavy but feels pretty light from the seat.

I bought the torque hammer and had my 1125r tuned with a K&N filter...
The front tire lifts up hitting 4th gear on my high speed runs : )

I had an RC51 SP-2 with Ohlins internals in the forks and Ohlins with piggy back in the rear. Full Akrapovic and PC3r lots of carbon bits.
As much as I liked miss piggy, the 1125 is a better bike in every way for the exception of reliability and the jury is still out on that. I would like to point out that I did have some reliability issues with the RC51, but once I figured the bike out I put it behind me, but I wouldn't go back.

While I think the CR is a good looking bike, the R is a terrible looking bike, IMO.

Recently procured a crunched RC & am excited to get it going to see how it does compare to the 1125R, & some of my other mochines. I do not believe the HONDA is much heavier, but will scale when I get the opportunity

I consistently ran:
10.9 @ 130mph at 5000ft density altitude.
OR
10.3 @ 139mph corrected for density altitude.
One 'littlebutquick' fella ran into the 9's on a mildly tuned (exhaust & fuel map) 1125R.

The only time you would see the bike would be when the backmarkers got lapped.

Just remember the RC51 SP-1 came out in 2000, the SP-2 in 2002, and I don't think anyone ever intended it to be a comfortable bike. The 1125R is at least 5 years newer in development terms, so I'd hope it would be lighter and faster.

From an article I read in an english mag, they thought the SP-1 was a lot of motorcycle for the money.

In all seriousness; the RC51 was a hell of a bike then & NOW. Lets not forget it won the World Superbike Championship TWICE in 3 years and in '02 it also captured the AMA title in the hands of Nicky Hayden. I don't need to remind you that this 1000cc V-twin was competing against the best 750cc Japan had to offer as well as 1000cc Ducati's.

Put those feats in todays perspective - as much as I love the 1125R - I don't think it would stand a chance against a 1198 Ducati or a 1000cc inline. And yes I realize the 1125RR might hold its own - however, the RC51 was a mass produced streetbike for public purchase.

While I agree the 1125R is superior to the RC51, if Honda released a 'new' RC I think the tables might be turned. Until then; Power, wieght, handling, features:

1125R - 1 RC51 - 0

PS. I'm also jealous of the elegant side mounted rad design of the RC51. Look 'no pods or noisy fans!'
