I notice the back lighting on my Instrument cluster behind the LED always flickers. I also have a large smudge on the INSIDE of the cluster lens ... very annoying. When I go to the dealer to get the 152 flash I am going to see about getting the cluster replaced. Obviously the smudge is not normal ... what about the flicker? |

Mine's done it (lightly, not to the point of being annoying) since I've had my bike. I suspect they all do ... Just part of the character. Mike |

Ditto. I complained about the smudge being there when I bought mine. Dealer did replace no questions asked it just took a month to get the new cluster. Not to mention some plastics they replaced as well. So I dealt with it until then. Kudos for the dealer and their customer service. The cluster does flicker lightly on mine. The old smudge cluster and the new one. (Message edited by freezerburn840 on November 09, 2009) |

I won't bother mentioning the flicker ... but somebody on the cluster assembly line was eating KFC that day or something! ![](http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/clipart/biggrin2.gif) |

I wonder if an electrolytic filter capacitor at the power input to the cluster would reduce flickering. It doesn't bother me enough to do myself, but that might be a good first step for someone to try if it annoys them. It probably wouldn't take anything too massive, but I would recommend going with something rated for at least 25 volts. I'd probably try around 1000 microfarads to start with (going with the old wild @ssed guess method of engineering). |

@Dmhines: "but somebody on the cluster assembly line was eating KFC that day or something!" When you power on the bike, the cluster tells you that the bike was made in the USA. I think that's fair warning to expect some fast food grease here and there. |
