i am not gonna say who i ordered stuff from, but apparently the level of service when it comes to buell parts is not very high.
I put in an order (first experience with these guys and buying buell parts at all) for high bars, 2010 decals an air box cover and the noid resister. I am charged for these immediatly. Today i get an email saying that the bars are back ordered due 11/6( i knew this)but that the airbox cover(the mask) and noid resister were backordered and due Jan 2010.... that ...WTF! who (no one READ what they wrote) would expect me to be ok with holding my order till 2010?

even better is that they have the airbox cover on ebay in their store! So i cancelled the resster and asked them to send the mask they had on ebay (in their store) somehow i don't expect this to end well
I guess the BS to get Ducati parts is gonna be a cakewalk compred to Buell stuff....
I am really not a happy camper

Use a board sponsor for your orders, and you will be all set. I am lucky to have a great local dealer, but have also had great experiences with online orders from board sponsors. They are here because they "get it" with our Buells. Don't let one bad apple spoil your ownership. We're all in this together a few weeks from now...

We'd love to be your parts source. Please PM me with what you want, you name, address, and phone number, and we'll fix you right up.

Thanks.

+1 on happy to work with you.

I ordered my noid, and it was in within 3 days. A week ago. Ordered one for a customer on Friday, I think...it showed on Tues.

Wow, that's yesterday. See what happens to my brain on a day off? lol

Just this second checked the airbox cover on HDnet, backordered to 1/15/10.

Noid is also showing b/o, clear by 1/10/10.

Guess there's a run on stuff. Go figure. No surprise with the number of bikes sold in the last 2 weeks.

I know the 1125/Firebolt touring seat I ordered myself is b/o; so is a tall Uly seat I ordered for a customer. My heated grip kit is taking forEVer to come in as well...better check on that too, now that I think about it....looks like that's not backordered, just vendor direct with a 10 day lead.

<shrug> I suppose nobody expected this kind of response or demand, post D-Day....

Anyone know if the tailights (bulbs or whatever) for the '08 recall are backordered? Thats whats holding up delivery of my bike.

Taillights...you mean turn signals? That was the most common issue.

I don't think so...but I can't look things up from home unless I have a part number (and the ones above were both accessories from the online catalog).

Froggy?

That's a safety/liability thing. Do they have another bike with working signals? it takes 5 mins to swap 'em...

That resistor is on back order. You can either try to get it through one of the guys on here or call up one of these dealers. They *might* have one

Huh i called my dealer 3 days ago and they ordered the noid resistor with no issue. it should be in by friday, i called today to ask about a high bar kit and wouldn't you know its back ordered, BUT the guy shows one in stock..a few minute later he says i have it in my hands, so it's on hold till i pay for it on friday... I guess i got lucky, though i still need to order a cr triple clamp or do something to get this bar on my R.

Rat - i think they have a few bikes waiting for the signals. I guess I could make a stink about it if it isn't a recall but I prefer fewer issues down the road.

Froggy - i would have thought the dealer would have checked all avenues but I don't recall you posting that you needed these?!?! : )

No I don't need one, but if I decide in the near future to denoid my R, it would be nice to get rid of the check engine light before January. Or I can wait a week till they are sold out nation wide and sell on here for $602 : D

You da frog, Froggy!

Both turn signals show active, no backorder. Should be a day or 2 to get them in, nothing major.

Augustus - don't make a "stink"...just let them know - politely - how upset you are that your brand new, paid-for-or-deposit-on, motorcycle is sitting there waiting for parts while you could be out riding. If that elicits sympathy...awesome. If it doesn't...well, there's not a whole lot to be done either way, and at least a bridge hasn't been burned.

Diplomacy and manners. Not the dealers' fault that Big Brown hasn't brought the signals in yet : )

I can understand and sympathize with whoever the parts dealer is on the noid resistor thing...We blew through considerabl stock on them in no time what with all the fire sale 1125s sold, and now we can't get more for a while.

BUT

IMHO, it is entirely wrong to charge for something prior to having it for shipping. Sure, if it is a custom part built special, then a deposit or even full charge might be appropriate. But taking someone's money without having the item to send for it borders on theft.

American Sport Bike policy is "We charge when we ship, we ship when we charge". If someone orders something and we don't have it, all we can do is tell them we can't send it now. Sometimes that pisses people off, but hey, I can't control delivery timelines, the best I can do is try to keep stuff in stock based on normal consumption rates. With all the firesale Buells out there, inventory consumption rates on certain items (noids being one) have blown my stocking models up. I'm sure that is the case pretty much everywhere.

But it still doesn't excuse taking someone's money without being able to deliver.

Al

Lol the Clear Alternatives stuff is junk compared to the $50 Buell LED tail light, and XBlights tail dwarfs both.

Rat - I wasn't gonna be rude but when I was signing papers last Sat. the saleswoman said that all the 1125's were on the lifts awaiting their new turn signals. Seems they knew ahead of time, they were going to replace them before they let the bikes go out.
Al - I cannot STAND the fact that many companies follow this practice!
Florin - my remedy costs me $0.
