Worst thing I've ever done was when I went to change the oil in my Jeep. It takes 10 quarts of oil, so I toss my 15 quart drain pan underneath. The really nice kind with the small hole in the center that lets the oil drain into the pan but catches your drain plug and has a nice place to drain your used filter.

Only problem is, I forgot to take out the transport plug in the center of the drain pan. I dropped the drain plug and went about my business only to see what looked like the Exxon Valdez spill running down my driveway into the street.

All I can say is that used diesel oil is VERY nasty stuff!

Worst thing a mechanic has ever done to me was not tighten the drain plug. I got very lucky. I got the car home and when I shut the door, I heard a thud. It was the drain plug falling out in my driveway.

I put the plug back in and borrowed a car to go fetch some oil. I called the dealer and asked them about it. They gave me free oil changes for the life of the car! Humm, is that a good or a bad thing?

AverageJoe hit the nail on the head. Most Harley Dealers are this way period they would rather work on cruisers thats the bottom line. Their work reflects that. Even with my dealer I know they put more effort on working on Harley's just by the comments they make. They still will take care of me if I wasnt pleased about something and nothing bad has happened yet with them. In fact they swapped out plastics and the instrument cluster for smudges that the bike had when I bought it. No questions asked. At least they know about customer service.

When the warranty is up however, I will take my bike to a dedicated shop that works on Sportbikes only. There is a shop coming to my area in February. The owner has been racing sportbikes for 20 years and his passion is sportbikes so I know that he will take care of my bike.

Here we go again, Took CR out today for a ride, got home and oil is leaking from the filter cover!!! I called the dealership and they said to bring it back and they would fix the problem.... I was wondering how tight the bolts were so I got my torque wrench, set it at 5ft/lb and my wrench broke free before the bolt did. I would say they over tightened the bolts!!!

Wow! I have done two oil changes myself just using a regular old socket wrench with the hex heads. No leaks from mine. Its funny how dealers have these kinds of problems.

freezerburn, I think when they forgot to tighten the bolts the rubber gasket blew out and they did not replace it with a new one. Then overtightened the bolts squishing the gasket!!

Unbelievable! I cant wait for my mechanic to move out to where I am at. Dealer really is only going to get warranty work. When I need a brake job or regular service done (minus oil and air) my mechanic will get that business. Its that simple. Valve check at 10,000 to 12,000 my mechanic gets. He rides sportbikes, he knows sportbikes, he's passionate about sportbikes. He will not work on cruisers. Sorry for this dealers incompetance Scott it really is a shame. I do have a confession to make my dealer did chip my rear wheel rim while putting on a new tire. Of course that was before I had the lead mechanic work on my bike now. I always request him now when I have anything done. He agreed that nobody should be chipping rims if its done the right way.

Took my CR Back to Mancuso HD in Houston today for the oil leak, upon arrival I found the Service Manager { joke} and told him what took place with the oil change I had done the other day. I told him I thought it may be better to do another complete oil change because it is so hard to get the correct oil level when you pull the oil filter and put another one in. The manager laughed and said he would not do that! I then requested my money back and I would get supplies and do the oil change myself. He stated, Sorry Im not giving you your money back Ill fix the leak. I then informed him that I had made two trips from Pearland {45 miles one way } and asked if he could give me a gift cert or something. Manager says sorry Im not in the position to hand out gift certs and tells me he will fix the leak only! It took them about twenty minutes, two techs, a service manual and the service manager to fix the leak. Then it took the three of them over an hour to get the correct amount of oil in the bike. They then bring the bike out to me with finger prints and oil all over my bike. The service manager notices oil on the air box and rubs it with his hand!!!! I ask for a cleaner and rag, they go get it for me and I cleaned my bike and left!!! If you live in the Houston area and own a Buell,Please stay away from MANCUSO HD at 290 and Crossroads!!!

Wow!! I feel really bad about your experience. I am glad the dealers in Cali would not be that incompetant. Inexcusable.

Freezerburn, Thanks, I cannot believe this place. They look as though they have never worked on a Buell before.

Yep. Try and find a sportbike only shop. And try and find a dealer that will do good warranty work. Best advice I can give you.

Sucks, am so sad most Harley dealers never got Buell. Wish I could offer some help. Any assistance from buell or Harley customer service. You must be so frustrated.
Have been lucky here, the manager at 4 corners harley rides a buell and a dedicated mechanic for them. Thunderbird Harley in Albuquerque has always given me incredible service. Am so sad for what Harley could have had with Buell. Any one see the review of the Buell Ulysses in "Ultimate Motorcycling" http://www.motorcyclingmag.com/2010_Buell_Ulysses_ XB12X_Review

Just bought mine, a leftover 08 in black, traded in my suzuki c90 moments after a quick test ride. I love it !! Am so mad, I know now what I have been missing. I was one of the idiots who believed the motorcycle mags and, to be honest, my own ignorance and never really looked at buell before the 1125r.

Doctorneon, if you go to rate your dealer good or bad, you will see there is another person that had a problem at their other store! I feel as though they do not like servicing Buells...

I know what you mean about dealers not wanting to work on Buells. Here in Olathe Kansas we have a H-D dealer that just about won't acknowledge that Buells even exist.
