I want to put together a ride to Ortega Highway (So Cal) sometime in the next couple weeks or so. Any one want to join in? I have Saturdays and Sundays off as well as every other Friday. From what I'm hearing, Friday morning around 10 AM would be an optimum time to start up the hill from a traffic standpoint, but I'm willing to be flexible if it means getting a few people to go with. I do plan to start on the Lake Elsinore side, go all the way to San Juan Capistrano, and then return the same way. If you're interested, please post up with the day you prefer. Right now, my vote would be for Friday 11/13/09, but again, I'm willing to be flexible if enough people show interest. | ||

about what time Friday are you looking at doing it? If its during noon, i'll still be at work, but Saturday and Sunday i'm free the whole day. | ||

Skinner: no, whatever you're riding would be fine. Clarkjw also pointed me to another site where Higbee allegedly hangs out and occasionally participates . . . Junior: I haven't done this route yet, but I'm hearing all around that weekends find the road very congested with squids and sightseers. They also say that rush hours are bad during the week but what time do you get out of work on Friday? I was thinking around 10 AM but I'd be willing to consider early afternoon if that helps. If not, I'll think about Saturday . . . | ||

I get off work around 4:30-5:00 pm on Friday, so it looks like Saturday would be a better day for me. And just to let you know, Palomar Mountain is another good ride, and if you get caught behind cars, they usually pull off to the side to let you pass up there. | ||

just did Ortega yesterday from Capistrano side to Elsinore and back. the earlier you go, the better - and on the weekend. after 10a it'll get busy. cheers, c. | ||

Chris: Yeah, that's why I'm thinking Friday would be better. But I also realize most people work on Friday (I have every other one off), so it may end up being Saturday. I'm thinking 8 or 9 AM would be good. But I'm still looking at it so if anyone else is interested, please chime in with days and times that would work for you! |
