Picked up some stalk LED flashers on eBay for the front of my CR. The stock mirrors and flashers had to go! The flash kinda fast ... but I don't remember how fast it went with the stockers since they didn't last very long my CR.

Hey, is that a gt500 or a gt with a 500 spoiler?

Are the signals drooping or is that plastic sloped downward? I ordered a flush mount set for a cbr1000, should be here soon. I hope they don't look like crap.

No droop. The are showing the angle of the side plastic I drilled and bolted them too. Looks better in person than pics I think. I was gonna do some trimming on the stalk to level them but after a test fit I left them as is.

My stang is a 2006 screaming yellow v6 with an Eaton m90 supercharger. I was in a wreck two years ago and ordered a complete GT500 body kit to repair it. Had an $11,000 check from insurace to pay for it.

Moosestang,

Please let us know how those lights work out. I want to replace my mirrors, but not sure what to do about the blinkers.

If any of you all want to get rid of your stock mirrors please pm me, my daughter is looking for a set for her blast. I have already installed the CR clubmans for her.

Let me know where you got the signals and how you installed them. The mirrors on the CR are horrible.
Good work they look awesome!!!!!

I just looked at the Lockhart Phillips book and they have short stalk LED's in there. Is that what you used?

Do a search on eBay for motorcycle LED Signal and you will see the one I used. Black LONG stack with LED and yellow tip on end.

I went long because I figure if I'm gonna go through the trouble of buying and mounting directionals in the front I want them to be useful and hopefully prevent some schmuck from whacking me in their car.

DMhines, I think I remember seeing your car on 4.0 Collective or mustangforums when you did that, it looks great.

Now that I think about it there was a Moosestang on that site too...

I have a CycleGear near where I work ... but eBay deal was $17.99 with free shipping. I don't think CycleGear was gonna beat that ...

I took the CR for a ride today. Incredibly the blinkers were back to normal speed. Wonder if they were just fast when the engine is turned off?? Oh well ... I'm very happy with them. And there are so many angles on the CR it doesn't even matter that both sides point slightly downwards .. the still looks factory and not at all out of place ....

Ebay is probably a better deal but I want to get rid of those ugly mirrors on Friday.

Oberon makes some very nice stuff.
they have a couple different bar-end mirrors to go with the very smooth bar-end blinkers

I picked up a brand new 2008 1125R from Steve Drane in Victoria for $6500 plus tax...$7512 out the door. The same bike was on the floor last week with a + $14,000 sticker on it.

mdaughten,

Cool stuff, but $400 (@ mirrors and 2 flashers)US dollars seems a little pricey to me!!

I'm not the only moosestang and I'm not the first, but I am the one on mustangforums.com with a 2006 GT and whipple supercharger. I like to go fast!

The flush mount cbr1000 mirrors look good, but the blink rate is still to fast, any idea why? Do they not have enough leds or pull enough juice? I figured being led signals, they would work just like stock.

I'll post a picture in this thread. They aren't as bright as I wanted and they aren't as visible from directly in front as I'd like.

So, back to CR mirrors...

What does it take to remove those mirrors and associated wires, like for a trackday? I guess the mirrors just unbolt from the perch with that Torx screw, but what about the signal wires?

The wires have male/female connectors inside the flyscreen, just round butt-type plugs. They're gender-specific so you don't hook 'em up 'backwards'.

Maybe I hooked them up backwards and that's why it still flashes to fast. I just hooked both black wires together.

Here's a short video. I'm thinking if I put the same ones on the back, then the flash rate should return to normal, maybe.

I doubt it. Per Al at American Sport Bikes, the stock signals have ballast resistors in them to simulate incandescent bulbs. You'll need to replace that function just as if you were going from incandescents to LEDs in the first place.

I had to ditch them mirrors on mine as well.

I found these little bullets on Amazon.com, and I really dig the way they came out.

People don't realize that they're not stock unless they know what they're looking at.

Holding up good, so far. (Knock wood)

Whats strange is that the first time I use the blinkers after turning on the key they flash slow for about 5 flashes .. then they speed up. Also LED's can only be attached one way .. if you swap the wires they will not work at all.

Here is how fast mine flash ...

My flash rate is just like stock.

Just a thought. Make sure the back blinkers are working if the fronts are flashing fast. If one fails, then the other flashes faster. (front and rear pairs...)
