A week out from my purchase of this GREAT bike, the battery goes dead, Well...ok...while I mutter to myself about missing a good riding day/dealer setup quality, drag out the charger, verify the battery can take a charge, get that done...verify when running I'm getting 14V across the battery, I start packing the maintenance gear away after shutting the bike down and hear a beep (yes, coming from the bike!) identical to that when I first turn the ignition on. That brief, electronic sounding..well...beep! I also hear something...sounds like a pump...wanting to actuate, but that sound is very brief. It is not the radiator fans coming on, or trying to. Doesn't happen all the time, but, thankfully, did a repeat performance at the dealership when I brought the bike in to ask them about it. Anyone else notice this? Or, do I owe the dealership an apology for even questioning their setup skills if this is some spurious, battery draining thing?  | ||

Its normal, your bike is functioning the way it is intentioned. Wait till you get a dozen of them stopping at a gas station for a break, it sounds like R2D2 is in an orgy. | ||

mine does the same... no battery issues so far. i'll keep my fingers crossed. what is it from? | ||

i didn't notice this noise til just yesterday. i thought it may have been the theft thingy... and i get the batt light now and then, but mine was in the showroom floor for several months, so i'd expect it. and yes, i'm tenderizing the battery when not riding it. | ||

Most likely you're hearing the fuel pump. The ECM keeps the fuel rail pressurized for 10 minutes after shut-off. When they were introduced, it did this for 20 minutes, but the first flash cut back to save on low battery problems. Zack | ||

is that written in the service manual or something? -not that i'm questioning you, it is just my curiosity- and that's to keep the fuel rail from boiling, right? | ||

Yup, pressure up, bubbles down. If you pay attention to the cycle times that you can hear, you can "sort of" get an idea for the fuel rail's health. eg. If you notice the interval gets shorter, the pressure is bleeding down faster... possible leaky injector. Welcome to the madness guys. Been hanging out here constant since before the release. I got the first 1125R in Colorado and I've been in love since 14DEC07. You'll find a LOT of good info here on BWB. It ain't perfect, but it IS the best, IMO. Zack | ||

If the sounds is more of a "whireeeeep" instead of an electronic "beep", it's definitely the fuel pump. You can often also hear it cycle by letting the bike sit for a while, then turning ignition and engine stop switch on. This bike makes a lot of quirky noises and clatter, in addition to those fans. I've just come to sort of appreciate the character of these unique machines. | ||
