My '09 1125R only has 1st, neutral and 2nd gear.

First off, it's already scheduled to go back to the dealer for the warranty work.

I can shift 1st, neutral, and second, but no 3rd or higher. It's acting like there is no spring inside the trans to return the shifter and to a neutral resting position to get ready for the next shift.

The clutch works fine, so I don't think it's clutch related.

The dealership said that they haven't run into this before and I couldn't find anything in a BadWeB search.

Anyone have any clues I could pass on to the tech?

BTW, it happened with 42 miles on the odo. on the first ride.

I think you mean "Beep Beep"

As opposed to Hot Rod Lincoln

They both rock.

And no, I have never heard of that either...

"beep-beep, beep-beep, his horn went beep-beep-beep" on the Nash Rambler trying to pass, and succeeding passing the Cadillac.

And: "my daddy said, son, you're gonna drive me to drinkin' if you don't stop drivin' that HOT..... ROD..... LINCOLN"

Two car classics. How about Thunder road, and a truckers song- Six days on the road, for hot rodders: "409", Deadmans curve, little GTO, hey little Cobra and of course many bike songs especially "born to be wild" by Steppenwolf, and all of these "www.catechnologies.com/blog/carsong"

Guess I'm just getting too damn old but weathers breaking, time to ride. Bob

Toona -
I had that spring break on my old TLR.
It would still fully shift thru all of the gears, but I had to hold a load on the shifter to keep it in whatever gear it was in.
A really fun 45 mile trip..!

Oddball -
Thanks for posting those old songs. Very cool.

I had for many years a 61 Impala with a 421 inch 409. It was home made. I bought the car with a small block in it.
A fun car.

Mike

Used to hear all the classics as a kid at the local DQ every weekend.

Look on the bright side, you don't need to de-noid it!

I'm on my way to drop it off at the dealer now. I'll be going to the SEMA Show in Vegas next week, so they can "play with it" while I'm gone.

I'll post up what they found.

Yes, it needs de-noided, that stutter is very annoying (almost dangerous if it kicks in at the wrong time)

I had that happen on a Yamaha SR-500. It turned out to be a broken return spring in the transmission.

Congrats Toona on finding a NEW failure mode.
Hope you're back up soon.

Also - good choice in Toons... : )

I got to see/hear Steppenwolf do "Born to be Wild" and "Magic Carpet Ride" at Buffalo Chip in Sturgis for the 50th.. classic.

Congrats Toona on finding a NEW failure mode.

Woo Hoo Lucky Me! hahahaha

Tech said it sounded like a detent spring broke inside, didn't make it sound like it was too big of a deal to repair. They have a week until I'll be back and ready to have them deliver it back to my shop 90 miles away!

What's the chances of it still being in the upper 50s lower 60s in PA in November?

slim, I know.....: (

Well that sucks ... I know from my maiden voyage of nearly 70 miles that 1-5 work perfectly. I never got a chance to go to 6th - I'll try it this weekend just to make sure it's there ; )
