Okay then, here's the sun (finally) ... Time to take the R out for it's maiden break-in voyage! Haven't ever ridden one, so I'll keep it reasonable - Famous last words!

A healthy respect. It is way more capable than i am at this point.
Loving the corners on it though... it's on RAILS.
Can't wait to finish the break-in! Should hit 300 on the way home tonight and get to play with 7500 - yay! |

Just back from my first 67 miles of piloting an 09R. Like others have said, the bike is way more capable than I am ... But what great fun! I'm far from a sportbike expert, but it does seem like you could almost think it through a corner. Likewise, if I hesitated or puckered, it knew that too - Thankfully it never bucked me off! I could see getting used to this thing quite quickly, albeit keeping respect in mind. Keeping it below 6K RPM's is torture though!

I'm still intimidated when I try to shift to second above 6k rpms. I pulled a wheel this morning by accident because I shifted at 5k and gave it a bit to much throttle before letting the clutch out.
I too noticed the slop in the drivetrain. I figured it was my shifting. |

Picked up the 1125R today from Liberty, 90 or so miles home back to my place in Philly. Nothing too eventful, keeping it under 6K for break-in. Not an intimidating bike, but definitely demands respect. It's so much smoother and quieter than the S2 that I can see where I will have to pay attention to my speed. It sneaks up on you without all the clatter and belch of the tube-frame bikes. |

When I first test rode one I was nervous. After a few minutes on it though I was fine. I didn't and haven't squeezed everything there is out of one yet. Honestly my X1 still intimidates me a little more. This CR is so refined that it shouldn't suprise you the way a tuber can sneak up on you. I know that the power is 50% more (horsepower at least) but the RPM range is so much broader that it's not RIGHT THERE like on my X1. Silly I guess but the shaking beast that my X1 is still commands a little more respect from me. |

Bhillberg, we might have some things in common. I've not been over 6K on my 09R since it's in the break-in period. But although I can tell a big difference in power from my '00 X1, the 1125 did seem to be more forgiving of my less-than-stellar riding ability. All those years riding H-D big twins might take some time to unlearn. Can't wait to get into the real power band before long!

Yeah, I mean I know it has more power but it seems easier to ride "civilized". I to have not gotten past 6k do to break in but it is kinda nice that if I want to take it easy I can by keeping it low in the RPMs. It seems like the X1 is a brute "in a really good way" to ride and while this one has more power it is more forgiving. |

I am intimated not by the power ... but by the damn Clubman handlebars. I am so used to my XB12 that was so easy to counter steer using the leverage from the high bars.
I find the Clubmans require more force since you are pushing down more than pushing forward and have much less leverage .. also requires more body lean than when using high bars. Hopefully I'll have the High bars installed on my CR by next weekend so I feel more in control on the bike.
Hard to change after riding my XB12 for almost 3 years. |

New to forum. I just picked up my 2nd Buell this week. I have owned a 2002 X1 and have loved every minute of riding it. I picked up the 1125CR on Monday and to me it commands a lot more respect than the X1. Love my instantaneous power with the X1, but once you really twist the throttle, the X1 and the its sportster 1203 is left behind. I agree on the clubman's as it takes a bit more coordination to turn slowly around the city. I have a feeling, though, I am going to love it.When I test drove a preowned cr, the thing really roars when the engine screams into 9000 rpm's. I really feel as though it can do a wheelie in 3rd gear. whoa!!!! The X1 could never do that!} |

I've all ready taken mine to 9k with less than 200 miles on it! That was in 3rd, i'm scared to try it in 2nd gear. I guess I don't have the self control of the rest of you. I'm also certain the kid test riding mine for the 14 miles that was on it, didn't have any self control either, so the damage, if any, is done. Way more intimidating than my 93 gsxr-750 and I never lost my fear of that thing.
Going to really break it in tomorrow against a 600rr with some mods. |

Torque curve seems a little different then a Buell though |

I'm a little concerned about what will happen once mine is broken in and I start to nail it now and then. I know theoretically you don't have to use all of the throttle, but I know I will. I'm pretty sure already that my break-in acceleration will just about out-run my S3!
I'm quickly gaining a huge amount of confidence in it's turning abilities so I'm also concerned that I'll go just a bit too far. There's been a lot of roadwork between here and work lately, and there's a lot of gravel to be found at just the wrong time.
I think a few of us would benefit from a track day.... |

Once you go BUELL you can't go back.
That V-Twin is awesome, nothing else like this bike.
I have just shy of 13k miles and red line it outstandingly nuts (but then again i'm young and not too afraid to push it)
There is nothing like foreseeing someone merge into you while taking a double lane turn out of an intersection, then dropping gears and blowing by them . i've reached 90 a couple times doing this in some few short seconds, helps relieve road rage. . .or maybe that is road rage. . idk   |
